Called several stores in UK - seems like noone really knows when they'll have it available for sure. sad BTW, VOS looks better, than I thought.

You cant compare Jimmy Page with God. I mean he's cool and all, but he's no Jimmy Page!!

Re: Joe's Skinner Prototype and Magnatone Amp

I just calculated I could reasonably sell almost all of my guitars to be able to afford the VOS. Tempted.
I also came from Appleton, so I share a mystical connection to this guitar.

Re: Joe's Skinner Prototype and Magnatone Amp

I'd like to think the real Skinner was the 2nd one. Had the woodiness and clarity...almost single-coil bite.

That's what I thought too.  This thread seems to think so too

Re: Joe's Skinner Prototype and Magnatone Amp

The most popular comment on facebook in regards to which is original is that the first one is real

Joe:1

Facebook: 0

Gibson Custom though, well done, this might be a golden era of Custom shop guitars or this might be their new standard, either way, they are absolutely scoring home runs.

Les Paul Geek, nut, obsessed etc. etc.

Re: Joe's Skinner Prototype and Magnatone Amp

Well I thought #2 was the real '59 because Joe tweeted a pic of the real Skinner and she didn't have the guitar strap on it and in the video #2 is strapless...minor detail but I noticed that right away...but they both sounded amazing....

2009 Gibson Les Paul 1958 VOS (with black plastic)
2008 Gibson Les Paul Traditional Goldtop (with the cream plastic from the 58RI)
> Marshall Bluesbreaker 2 pedal >Boss sd-1> DD3 > Vox Ac15cc1

Re: Joe's Skinner Prototype and Magnatone Amp

I think the 2nd is the original as the pole-piece screws on the pickups look more worn...

Guitars: Fender American Original 60s Strat, Fender American Vintage 52 Tele, Gibson Les Paul Traditional
