Re: On this day in APRIL Bonahistory

here's a thread about the 4/25/10 Harrisburg, PA show https://forum.jbonamassa.com/viewtopic.php?id=13826
includes a few links to photos from the night. My second show at the venue, real nice place. and my friend Kristi still talks fondly about meeting up with Cathy and George before hand. a great night for me and my bestie, she lives a bit north of the rest of a group of our friends and always has the long ride home when we go out. this was north of her so i got to drive her around for once. Papamassa travelled south for the show. we only had a moment to talk to him (both of us had met him before) but i distinctly remember him telling me how much he was loving his advance copy of the BCC debut. damn that is some great stuff....
FWIW to the rest of the fans, not sure how daily he reads here anymore but he got to know me from this place and it was pretty cool the first time i met him years prior cause he already knew me, from my massive posting lol ? the same goes for Joe, so that is a hint folks wink and of course his dad knew how interested i was in the BCC since i often would beg Joe for more rock here

i say its about time to hit Harrisburg area again sometime Joe. i mean not in place of something closer to me but its not a bad ride up 83 for me. hard on a school night but..... they love you there! wink

Re: On this day in APRIL Bonahistory

In my haste to catch up 6 days ... I admit ... I didn't search the Forum for any show nuggets.  The Bonagods were smiling though ... Jane H. had a show in there ... and thus ... another great little post for BHistory. smile

"I was in Space for less than 2 weeks … and suddenly Jeaniene’s back … half the Band is off the gd wagon … we have comedians opening for us … and the nice kid that ran our website is now a kleptof’nmaniac.  Boy ... did you guys miss me!!"  Phil Valentine - Road Manager - Staton House Band

JBLP#251 (unaged) ... thank you Ron.

Re: On this day in APRIL Bonahistory

Just a ^5 and a thank u for the history threads RCB

I been strollin for days thru the vast wealth of information from the site, so neatly bundled for me to research .. a benefit to all noobs.

Thanks again! cool

Re: On this day in APRIL Bonahistory

Thank you Buzzy for the kind words.  Welcome to the Forum.

BH is nowhere near complete ... especially those early days ... which is much more difficult to locate and assemble.  Fortunately ... those of us in the later Class Years ... can learn a lot of the History from the active members of the Charter Years' Classes ... and the stories they recount.  That's the BonaHistory!

When I read your post ... I thought of the saying ... "Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it."

Probably not Joe ... but I bet many on here would love to repeat a little of the Joe history. smile

Re: On this day in APRIL Bonahistory

My 2nd Joe show and the one the lead me to the forum, Lexington Opera House, Lexington, Kentucky April 30, 2010. I remember it was really hot for April more like mid July. Our seats were 1st or 2nd row past the pit rows much closer than I had at my first show and I was so blown away. We had been fans for so long and just never could catch Joe live until 2009 in Louisville. I realize now that you have the timeline I realized back in November it was nearby when we were taking vacation in November. I just went to my 15th show over the weekend smile Found this thread in Cool Pics from David A. that I had not seen before and did not realize he was at the show cool

https://forum.jbonamassa.com/viewtopic.php?id=13951

This thread started by Bill S is how I found the forum, it's a link from a review done by our local newspaper's music critic. I had posted there under my previous user name #1kyfan however a forum snafu somehow deleted all my posts and the original post is in my introduction smile

Re: On this day in APRIL Bonahistory

Missed by a couple of days, but here's a landmark in Bonahistory from my archives. April 14, '11. A tune Joe played to have one in the set he knew well. The first time Joe sat in with RCFP and still a gem, playing his immaculate 225 '52 Goldtop. This started a new direction for Joe and was the beginning of some long-lasting friendships among we lucky few who were there.
The Thrill Is Gone from the Baked Potato and one of the very few times he's played it live I know of, ending with a solo by Tal who couldn't let the moment die. (My battery died before he ended)

The guitar is rare, but Joe performing "The Thrill Is Gone" live is not.  He performed it all during The Three Kings Tour, with The Rumblebees, in several fundraisers and showcased extravagances (jams), and further back, even (I think?).  But it's a gem every time for sure. smile

To RickB - Wow! How interesting - you are "Elexmage"!!! I've watched so many videos from your channel. love it. And you know what - this was the first song by Joe that I ever watched and that got me hooked, same song but filmed by Linda ( that one that has almost a mil views now smile ) And I posted it right away on my other social media site, so I know The exact day when I found Joe - July 16th 2016.
