Dust Bowl is my favorite JB album (it's very stylistically diverse), followed by Ballad of John Henry and Sloe GinBlues Deluxe is great, Black Rock is really good, his live albums are all really good.  Welcome!

These 5 are a great introductory recommendation for a new listener. big_smile Gots to be lots to be Likey Mikey for there... wink

Any or all are good starts, but this combo I really think develops a fitting Joe Bonamassa perspective, especially since these all have LIVE show material actually in rotation.  Well, "Blue Deluxe" (song) is a welcome treat, as if it isn't currently offered concert to concert, it just may slip in as a most wondrous surprise.  cool

All of Joe's Albums are worth purchasing, they are all diverse and powerful in their own way

he has Blues, Rock, Acoustic, Soul, Funk, Country, Jazz, Heavy Rock/Metal and even other Worldly sounds set across his Catologue ... so enjoy them all,  where would you find a single artist giving you that much diversity

oh yeah he needs a pop hit  LOL   Nah

Thank you for all replies smile

Still don't know what to go with. Was thinking maybe Dust Bowl and a live album would be good start. All seems so good to me!

My friend has heard the Dust Bowl song, he's a big Blues fan, loves Gary Moore etc, he's like I'm not sure on that Joe guy......what can I play him that he might like? haha.

The Beacon theater DVD/CD is my fave. You could start with that.

Re: Best albums for a new listener :)

I was just thinking about that one funny enough!! Great minds!! smile

Re: Best albums for a new listener :)

Start with his live stuff.  I'd actually get all his live stuff first before his studio albums.  Probably Royal Albert Hall first and Live From Nowhere In Particular second.  Beacon shortly thereafter and New Day Yesterday.  You'll capture his sound at different stages of his development.  They are all fantastic.

Everyone's taste is different.  But my favorite studio albums are Had to Cry Today and Blues Deluxe.  But again, they are all great and have different styles and tastes, depending on his age.

I agree with starting with his live stuff but it really doesn't matter. If you're like the rest of us, you'll end up with all his CD's and DVD's. It's a sickness for which there is no cure.

Re: Best albums for a new listener :)

I have just started getting Joe's cd's and I have all but two of them....not counting his stuff with others.

I can so very highly recommend   LIVE From Nowhere In Particular

You will be amazed.

It was jaw dropping for me.
