Re: JB - Guest Appearances, etc. - updated discography 20240406

There really is a HUGE box set in the making here that will obviously never happen!!  (Imagine the record company logistics and politics!)
I've been building a collection of this stuff over the years and treating it like a normal collection of CD compilations.  I've currently got 9 cds and halfway to number 10.  Close to 11 hours of music with just the studio guest appearances!  I've kept the actual Bonamassa rare tracks in a separate collection of rarities so there's close to another 3 hours.
Imagine all this collected on CD and vinyl in one box set big_smile

And I STILL can't find Scufflin' by Tom Townsley!!!!!

Heavenly Cream - An Acoustic Tribute To Cream

"Heavenly Cream - An Acoustic Tribute To Cream" features Ginger Baker, the late Cream lyricist Pete Brown, Free frontman Paul Rodgers, Bernie Marsden, Joe Bonamassa, Bobby Rush, Malcolm Bruce (son of Jack Bruce), Debra Bonham, Maggie Bell and others.

For a band that existed for only two and a half years, Cream's influence and fame seem to have grown over the decades.

One of the highlights of this project was the participation of Cream's original drummer, Ginger Baker. Unfortunately, it turned out that these were the last recordings he ever made.

Another big plus was the participation of the great Bobby Rush. The verve and energy of the 85-year-old blues/funk master is spectacular.

Joe Bonamassa didn't quite realize that everyone was playing acoustic, but his slide work on "Sunshine" was very effective.

The powerful voice of Deborah Bonham made the walls of Abbey Road Studios shake as she laid down a couple of tracks. Her husband Peter Bullick also contributed to the mix, showing off his guitar finesse with great ease.

Maggie Bell's performances were a welcome reminder that she is still one of the greatest British blues/soul artists of our time. And multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Malcolm
Bruce, who joined in on all the tracks, did a magical job that I'm sure his late father Jack would have been very proud of.

Glanced at a song off this very fine album but didn't give it a more serious listen until today.  This was due mainly the mention of Deborah Bonham today in the forum.  The woman is maybe a tinge better singer than Bonnie or Grace Potter.  Her version of "Badge" (my favorite Cream song) is simply sublime.  A lot of other guests on this project really do the great Cream justice.  If anything this modern cast of musicians breathe new life into the soundtrack of my life.  Man, Jack Bruce's boy has got some serious chops.  Great restraint by our Joe Bonamassa on "Sunshine of Your Love".

Man, what a great remake.  The thing that hurts is Steve Marriott's missing.  What a freaking voice.
Peter Frampton has to be the most underrated guitarist of all time and JB would've reached godlike status had he been around in those days.
