Topic: Merchandise

Do any other european fans feel hard done by? I bought 3 small items from the JB store for my boyfriend for Christmas. The shipping fee charged came to almost the same amount as the items. Now the items have arrived I have to go to the post office and pay a £14 import and handling fee. It has cost me £50 for a mug, a pick tin and a slide! Surely JB has enough european based fans to open an outlet over here?

Re: Merchandise

That's because we pay silly tax on things. Not a lot JB can do about that. I have to buy from amazon because of that or wait till I'm in the US to order. Someone needs to open a franchise.  lol

Come on the Blades (sorry Idolbone just had to borrow your line)

Re: Merchandise

Most of the items sold in the shop aren't available on Amazon. This was the first place I looked. Unfortunately can't afford to go to the US. If I could I wouldn't be complaining about the costs
;-) I know it's not JB's fault, I just feel European fans are disadvantaged!

Re: Merchandise

I agree - I visited Joe's online store once, was surprised to see there was no European distributor and as a result I've never been back. Considering the size and loyalty of Joe's European fanbase, surely it's time to sort that one out?

With grandkids in Europe, we frequently mail parcels to there. Cost of postage is ridiculous. Add in VAT and the cost would be more than double at the other end. There might be an opportunity out there.....

Re: Merchandise

there are plenty of European companies that will under licence print and distribute, certainly clothing would be relatively easy to do, - the licensed items such as picks, pedals etc may be more difficult as there would be contracts with European distributors already for the companies involved, - but guess there must be some sort of restriction put on these items by Joe’s management? Example being why don’t Ernie Ball wholesaler/importer sell Joe branded straps to retailers?

Agree with what was said previously given the following over here you would think that there would be better options, and to add available merchandise at shows has always been a little disappointing, understandably as I guess the stuff has to travel from the USA, - so European distribution might help?

A Club that I was involved with used these guys: http://www.spreadshirt.co.uk - not saying that they are right for Joe, just an example.

Re: Merchandise

The company they use here certainly works for J&R and I would guess if it was as easy over there it would be as we say here in middle America a "done deal" True you would think just having a European store distributor would solve the problem but then you have each individual country to deal with. I'm not experience with European Union trade agreements so I can't say what the problems might be but I do assume it isn't as easy as it sounds.

Re: Merchandise

Waiting on ANDY Live DVD now that I've embraced the blu ray revolution. Already cost 17GBP, will be interesting to see what I get stung on import duties!!!

Revisiting a thread around the time of the September UK tour, us fans this side of the pond would go mad for merchandise at Joes shows over here, but the variety on sale was virtually non existent sadly.
