It was all just a matter of time!  Such a magical night at Royal Albert Hall!  I know it will forever be my most favorite Joe show!  It was and still is in my opinion Joe's greatest night!

Re: Joe Goes Platinum!

I was one of the lucky ones who was in the original (along with pattyluvsjoe and a few others here) so when will our platinum disc show up?   lol

So glad for everyone involved, it's about time this happened.  This makes twice in a couple of weeks you know what has frozen over.

although I must admit I am not 100% sure I know what it means. I just checked Wikipedia (BTW please $upport them if you use the site) so I am thinking this means
one MEEEEllion  copies of the CD set sold?
wiki says something about 100000 sold for a music video, I don't know what that means cause I think if it means the dvd that should have already gone platinum?

anyway very cool. as I said before it was an almost perfect thing! amazing and its such a feel good thing to watch smile

I think it was the DVD release and it was for US sales. By your post that would be 100K US sales. A huge number for an independent label by any measure. I remember that Joe said they hocked everything but the kitchen sink and were all in on the production so that was a risk well rewarded. The suits at Sony must be grinding their teeth. lol

That's my Great White North Uncle Yuk Yuk!  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gpn_hofHQuc (You can't knock a prospector who considers guitar strings essential supplies! tongue) He was certainly already aware, since he discovered all of ours here; silver, gold, platinum, titanium, Bonametal, and just recently this year he hit the first vein of Bonamegametal, just in time for our Trading Posts! big_smile

Joking aside, another jewel for the Joe King Crown! cool

Sandy, that is 3 times in a week for some helluva freezing fun!!! wink  So cool

Congratulations Joe, Roy, & Kevin. big_smile

Re: Joe Goes Platinum!

Thanks Rocket for the "family" movie link. smile

With a quick look, I didnt't see the photo Rick refered to on the Caveman website. Prob my mistake.

A search on RIAA shows the RAH dvd was awarded G&P on the same day in Feb '13.

I think for album awards...double slab units count as two...so 500K RAH cds would be Platinum. (??)

I would bet more than that have been sold. I know Im in for 7 so far. smile

I'm pretty sure the Platinum sales award is for the DVD. 100K is a huge number for a music DVD. So far no Gold or Platinum CD sales 500,000 or 1,000,000 copies for any artist is a daunting feat especially for an Indy label. Those kind of sales would chart in Billboard hot 100. That is getting harder and harder to do now that CD sales overall have plummeted.

RAH had already gone Gold or Platinum in Germany but the unit sales for each country is different. Just seem to remember a year or so ago that award given.

Yes, 100,000 units, especially in the US of A, is an incredible number of live musical performance DVD units sold!  I think some don't ever break even.
This brings smiles. smile smile  Joe Bonamassa at The Royal Albert Hall is Joe's gold standard performance.  Platinum sales, do some math.  Average over 50 sales a day over 4 years...

Joe's Beacon and Vienna show DVD's should be doing fairly well also.  wink

Rocket

ps-didn't even mention Tour De Force, with 4 different at less than a year since performance a bit premature to review (?), not past Christmas yet! Of course that applies for ALL Joe everything, too.

Yes, that`s correct: Joe received the Gold Record for the RAH DVD backstage in the Grugahalle in Essen (he himself always posted Guggenhall) on March 10th, 2012.
