LOL'ed at the post of the little one "jamming" on the plastic guitar to Mountain Time.  Too bad that wasn't the full song, but plenty of great examples on YouTube of it, anyway.

Reminded me of a show at Elgin Community College (years ago) that's been discussed elsewhere, here.  When someone popped a forum member's kid up on stage with his plastic guitar, and Joe welcomed him as a "guest 'guitarist'" (though not verbally, just ushered him on up, and as I recall turned him around to face the audience).  One of many priceless Joe B. show moments.

That young man is Melissa Durse's son.  She was the Street Team Leader for several years and great fans of Joe.

Re: On Today's date in AUGUST Bonahistory

Hey, we like nostalgia here...

One from the vault.......

I do recall my buddy John from Caz saying he was upfront (we still had not met although paths cross once again!).  I keep looking for him in this.   Of course I have the ears/eyes priorities and sync plague that I do, unwittingly, or at least inattentively, with the video cameras, which means hang on, E ticket ride in progress-you are there!  I know John likes close local shows because it keeps the circle staying round ( wink ), an important precept for Central New York living at it's best.

I am not sure if this was the first time Joe played the now famous show closer Z.Z. Top/ Led Zeppelin saluting, Just Got Paid-Dazed & Confused (and MORE! still develops over time you see) medley.  But no keys, no theremin, no Flying V... Plain & Simple, "Let's ROCK!"  I do know it was the year the band first showcased, at least publicly as far as I know.  The famous "Covers you would love to see Joe Bonamassa do"  thread finally had somebody's request actually come to pass (Phil C.)  Mark Epstein, wow what a trip, too bad it was so short.  Was good to have a bassist who knew the pace again...Bogie famously stayed on longer, speaking of wow & trips...

And those photos by fotopete from this venue (http://www.fotopete.com/concerts/turning/index.html),...just Beautiful (name's wrong).  Great pictures indeed.  Also, I do know Mark and Bogie worked great together with Joe.  And the crowd here did impress both of them also.  Not too shabby for a Thursday night in summer!

Thanks Rocket for the "new" UTube upload of Turning Stone (8/17/06). Great version of JGP. Man o' man...great capture!  Love it! I added the link to the date. (Looks like you have some gold in your pocket yet to share.) smile

Fotopete has some great pics of Joe shows.  Glad he showed up on a hit for that date.  His other shows are listed...so members may have peeked.  I'll attached the link as I go along.

Again...great capture of Bonahistory / JGP !!...It's running in the background as I type!!

Hey Rocket...
I know I was there and I know I was right up against the stage, but I can't spot me or Gail either. Always a great show with Smokin' Joe!  Thanks for posting the vid! Have any more video of this show???

I "think" I have the whole thing, probably minus the 1 hour tape change unless the change was during between song chatter, where Joe does a NASCAR pit stop and is off and running again in no time flat or round...back then I "believe" the one hour time was right in the middle of "Woke Up Dreaming."

By the way, there was a Turning Stone show in 2003.  You miss that one?!  I am blank totally on the date... And I was there! lol

Re: On Today's date in AUGUST Bonahistory

August 27, 2002, special day indeed.  My first live Joe Show in Greenville, SC.  Wow, hard to believe it was 11 years ago.
Set List:
Walk in My Shadows
Step
New Day
Unbroken
So Its Like That
Slow (Early name for Blues Deluxe)
Taken the Hit
Burn
(Plus about three more songs not on the set list for encores)

Memorable show, crazy setting in a defunct mall with free beer and food for the construction trade industry. But I was able to get us tickets through the radio station and made the trip down from Charlotte.  Rest is history!

Congrats on the anniversary David! That's certainly one of the more unusual - but cool - set lists I've seen. I'm assuming "Burn" was "Burning Hell" and "Step" was "Steppin Out"? Also, I don't think I've ever seen "Unbroken" on a set list before. Very cool indeed!

Hi Lee, "Burn"  was "Don't Burn Down That Bridge" and it was "Steppin Out".  Still have the original set list with Joe signing it "Smokin Joe".   My, how it just seems like yesterday. Give our regards to Renee... Thanks

Re: On Today's date in AUGUST Bonahistory

Wow....I just saw these posts looking for Sept Bonahistory (from early Sept) TODAY (6 weeks later!!).

I always checked the Forum daily...don't know how I missed them?...and how close I was to possibly being stoned in the Bonatown (Bonaville?) Square!!

I reluctantly paused on BHistory in Sept (because of work...and that rolled into early Oct.)  Jane H. brought up the BH subject (in a joke reply to my post) in one of the box set DVD threads last night...and a little bird told me today about these few posts in the Aug BHistory thread.

Too funny....thanks Bonapostle for trying to gather the villagers.  Appreciate the posts / pokes...and Rocket, please don't hold me to those high standards imposed on Jane H.

I hate to start mid month (like I did with the May start).  I'll shoot for Nov 1....and add Sep / Oct next year...stretching out the fun...for all to enjoy!!! big_smile  Thanks all.

Re: On Today's date in AUGUST Bonahistory

Your efforts are immensely appreciated. I understand you are a farmer and can relate. Just keeping up with the Fijoa crop this year on the bush out front has been a chore since it drops fruit daily for more than a month and it is a race with the 'possums to see who gets them. (pineapple guavas and it was a very good year for them) We were putting up jams and preserves on weekend sessions.
OK, I digress but only in appreciation.  Off Topic as all get out. Back to the Bonahistory.

10/30/04 Clifton Park NY - NORTHERN LIGHTS / UPSTATE CONCERT HALL

Great Clip (Junction 61, Reconsider Baby).  If the first 50 seconds don't grab u by the throat....

Date / Setlist / Video clip  - full Rocket credit - is duly noted for October Bonahistory (future thread).

The real reason I skipped 2 months....a selfish reason....wanted to keep these type of nuggets surfacing (once again) well past a year from Bonhistory's start date to avoid a let down. smile

Thanks Rocket!
