Re: Rock Candy Funk Party in NY

Thanks for the kind words Natasha. The feeling is mutual. That cast off and whacked out stick of Tal's needed a good home where it could inspire a young musician so when I saw that post it jumped to my mind that a HOME had been found.

Fab vids you've produced and it is so cool that the band used them as a live critique for improvement. That dance with the photoguy must have been serendipitous, given your channel name. lol That crowd squeeze sounds very Spud-like! Now to convince the band to hold a triple header out here at some place with more room. smile

Re: Rock Candy Funk Party in NY

What happened to this thread? How did it become a Natasha and Phil appreciation thread? That’s a rhetorical question, as I can answer it myself, after spending 8 hours standing on the street outside of the Baked Potato with Natasha and Phil I too have to jump on the bandwagon and say what a great couple these two Bonafans are.

Wonderful music fans and really, truly, sweet, down to earth folks.  Was great spending the time to get to know you two and look forward to seeing you guys again, wherever our musical adventures may lead us.

As Rocket pointed out, you may have been jealous of us Bonaspuds who have been to all the Baked Potato shows, but I’m now jealous of your Iridium shows!  Can’t wait for the torrents!  Hurry up Phil!!

Re: Rock Candy Funk Party in NY

Wow, all of this is going to start making us feel like we're some sort of Bonacelebrities. And we don't want that to happen, you know what fame does to people, it's not a pretty sight smile.
Chris nice to hear from you! Haven't seen you around here in a while. It was great spending all those hours hanging out with you, too. We'll see how fast those torrents get up, there were some issues with some of those recordings sad, but luckily there were a lot of sets.
I don't know Rick, three days would be amazing, but it has to be at the Magical Potato!

So now back to the music:
Here is the whole late show from Sunday night. They only played 7 songs, but the versions were quite long. In fact the darn battery in the camera started blinking red when Joe started his solo on "One Phone Call" and I was like "Noooo!" Thankfully it made it to the end of the solo, because I thought the solo that time was one of the best. I then had to stop and change batteries for the rest of the song which consisted of an 8 minute drum and percussion solo. Daniel and Tal were just going off!

WOW! What a wonderful adventure for everybody. Sorry I missed out, but am always so grateful for everybody taking the time to keep us, non-attendees, in the loop.
Happy Anniversary Phil and Natasha!!!! One to remember for sure.  Joe's message to you lets me know you've had a much better interaction than you would have had at the bus in D.C. lol  I can't wait to hear how much you love the Carre. It's stunning. You'll also love the whole Dutch/German group of fans. Wonderful folks!! Rock on girl and nice to see that dress smile

Re: Rock Candy Funk Party in NY

Wow, Natasha.  you got some great videos here.  Tal and the folks at J & R are using all your vdeos for promotion, which I thnk is so cool.  I know that the folks that use torrent are so excited to hear Phils recordings.

Just want to stay on the bandwagon for a moment to let folks know that you are indeed a kind and genorous person.  Thanks for the favor you did for me.  No more searching for Warren singing my favorite song.   You guys both Rock.

Love the solo on One Phone Call

Re: Rock Candy Funk Party in NY

I have to say I am completely overwhelmed by all of this, from what Joe wrote to us and everyone elses's responses as well. It really is beyond anything I have ever experienced before. This forum is just an amazing place filled with the most kind and generous people. I am just so thankful we happened upon Joe performing his wonderful music while flipping through channels one evening not that long ago. It has changed our lives and allowed us to become a part of this wonderful family here on this forum. Thank you Joe, and thank you to everyone here. This really is a special place.

Re: Rock Candy Funk Party in NY

I just put on flickr some video still shots of the guys. So nice to have a few shots of Joe with a smile on his face. He really does have fun with this band. Wish I had some of Tal, but since the camera was basically in my lap, it didn't capture Tal's face which was usually hidden by drums and microphones. I could see him just fine and he was winking and smiling at us. Some woman who was a friend of his asked me if we all were related to him. Lol! Maybe it was because we are all the same height and he and Phil both have that curly hair and their faces do look a little similar. It's probably that mediterranean heritage smile

Re: Rock Candy Funk Party in NY

How completely cool this is.  Thanks for sharing.  I've got some catching up to do, on YouTube.

Play like you've worked at it, and don't worry about sounding like your influences.  You can't cheat on them, or your practice, anyway.  If you've worked hard at your skill, your audience will know it.

Re: Rock Candy Funk Party in NY

We knew that they were filming all these shows, and there was talk of no recording being allowed, so before the first show started on friday, as Joe passed by us to get into the club I asked him if we would be allowed. He said he would find out and then went in. We didn't hear anything from him so I started filming when they came out on stage. Then an announcer at the club stated that no audio or video recording would be allowed. Joe looked at us and shook his head so I started to put the camera away, then he loooked at Tal who waved his drumsticks dismissing what the guy had said. Joe looked back over and nodded and mouthed that it was okay and Tal gave me a big smile and wave. I was pretty nervous about the whole thing because the waitstaff was going around telling people to put their cameras away, so I kept mine really low so as not to attract attention. Here is the first song of that first night "Octopus-E" which captures that whole nerve wracking exchange in the beginning of the song.
