Re: Rock Candy Funk Party in NY

Anybody know the photo/video/audio policy at the Iridium? Just figured I'd ask...pointless to travel with cameras and other gear if they won't allow it.....

When we talked to Joe at the Beacon meet and greet about the Rock Candy shows, he pretty much expected that we would be filming and recording. Hopefully the Iridium doesn't think otherwise. Usually it is up to the band and what they will allow.

No such luck....taking the train from Baltimore to NYC Saturday afternoon, taking in the 8PM show, and then taking the 11PM train back. Am going with a girl friend......[ :w notice I did not join the two words :w ] ..... lol the wife would kill me if I spent the night in NYC anyway lol !!!!

These being end of middle school weeks in Maryland, my daughter has events planned on Fri-Sat-Sun, and I want to be there for those events on Fri and Sun lest I be permanently kicked out of my abode..... wink

Yes, I'm going to enjoy the show....not taking any audio stuff with me....just figured I would take a few photos of the troops.... the last two Joe shows have been thoroughly enjoyed, I did not spent a minute taking photos or anything....my daughter went with me to the Hippo, and took all the photos herself. She's only 11, but regretting she cannot make it to NYC. Incidentally, the *only* CD of Joe that she repeatedly listens to is RCFP - would you believe it. It's 'constantly on' every evening as I ferry her to swim lessons, karate lessons, and music lessons. When I asked her why RCFP only, she said "I love the way he plays guitar on that CD" - I figure she has an ear for the abstract/improv side of things!!!

The cool thing about a place like the Iridium or Baked Potato is that you can just set the camera on a little tripod on the table, and let it do all the work while you sit back and enjoy the show. The stage is so small, Joe is pretty much contained to one spot. No tracking needed smile

Normally I do. At one of Joe's Beacon shows I had the photo pass and my SLR with me but normally sit there and enjoy the show. I assume the guys who are doing sound recording only have rigs set up on stands and aside from being quiet enjoy the show as well.

Re: Rock Candy Funk Party in NY

From Joe's tweets, it looks like the guys have been doing a bunch of rehearsals for these shows and Joe sounds really excited about it all. Glad Ron DeJesus is feeling better. Counting down the days!!

Re: Rock Candy Funk Party in NY

Well it's been a long tome since I've posted on this forum.  Been so busy with full time work and enjoying my new life with my love and best friend Brian who I met about 2 1/2 years ago thru Joe's former social site JBXP. He was from England and now living the US. Amazing how Joe can bring so many relationships and friends together thru the magic of his music! :-D

We'll be at the RCFP show for the Fri 6/7 night.  We passed out a lot of RCFP at the Iridium flyers at the Beacon Sat show so hopefully it will sell out.

Natasha, we are so looking forward to seeing you and Phil again.  We'll have to help celebrate your anniversary as well smile  My friend Cristina that you met before Beacon show at our gathering will be there Friday at the Iridium too with a couple friends.

See ya'll soon.

Joe makes me feel his music & soul with his performances. He will be a legend!

Great to hear from you Gloria, I'm so very happy for you and Brian! You will be absolutely enthralled with Rock Candy Funk Party, so much that persons of certain age(s) might need a precautionary visit to the special garments section prior...Mormons may disregard suggestion.

Is Cristina the other blond bomber (on the far left) in the photo taken at the restaurant for the Beacon show?

Have much fun Friday night!

Hey Rocket Man,

Great to hear from you too.

Yea I can imagine what you mean about needing precautionary measures for the excitement the RCFP show can bring ;-)  Too funny lol.  We sure missed ya at the Beacon this time.  Seeing you and Michael up front and being in the BonaMoment head banging and throwing up money last time was a classic moment.

Brian has been out here for almost 2 years now and we're so happy being together as a Bonafied married couple smile  We just keep that news private on FB due to some family members that we are not ready to inform.

Yes my friend Cristina is the one on left of table in that pre show pic.  She's a big fan now after seeing the Beacon show and said he blew her socks off lol :-D

Here's my pics from the Beacon show: http://gloriasphotos.smugmug.com/Events … ;k=6SWz4KF

Hope all is well & come back to NYC sometime.

It will be recorded Gloria. Tal posted it will be for a PBS special and maybe a live cd as well! The feed from the Iridium can rather spotty at times with frequent very low audio. I listen often and I'm hoping it will be on at least one of the nights. i'm glad you folks back East will be getting a shot at this. Enjoy the gig.
