Hi all, back from Night 3 (Night 2 for me) of Joe's London extravaganza. Yet another fantastic evening, and boy was it Rock Night, my ears are ringing still (2 hours on). For starters the acoustic mini-set offered those of us unable to attend the Borderline show to see Joe as apart of a (Less)power-trio, before the 5-piece took to stage for the remainder of the evening. This was an unexpected start to the evening as was anticipating that being reserved for the RAH show on Saturday, but was certainly most welcome seeing as I've had the Live at Vienna CD on relentlessly the last few days. For those who claim that acoustic rock is boring need to see Joe play a song like Woke Up Dreaming and witness how much a solo acoustic performance can rock. Also really enjoyed the interplay between the trio on Athens To Athens.
As for the rest of the evening we were treated to tracks from 8 out of ten of his solo albums, so his back catalogue well represented. The highlights for me were Sloe Gin and Jockey Full Of Bourbon, with the treat of the night being Tea For One something i feel most will agree with, especially based on the audiences response afterwards. This also being a song I never would of imagined hearing live. Just Got Paid was the perfect end to rock night, what a treat to hear Joe play superbly 2 Jimmy Page solos in one evening. Earlier in the evening i did fear the venue would need evacuating as it appeared as if Arlan was going to burst in to flames during his keyboard solo in Dislocated Boy due to the intensity of his performance. Once again I am now gonna kick back and relax after yet another fantastic performance, til Saturday night, thank you Joe.
