Topic: Bob Seger & the Silver Bullet Band

I am hoping to see him in the States sometime this year - here's the setlist from last night's opener:

Some classics in there. He didn't do Like A Rock last time I saw him so that's a very welcome addition.

I hear ya Randy, the one that caught my eye was Her Strut, absolutely full on testosterone rock from the '80's.

Covering "Nutbush City Limits" is a killer choice.

Kinda hoping they make it out west.

Re: Bob Seger & the Silver Bullet Band

I see they are coming west but only as far south as Portland Ore. Strange.

More dates to come I believe.

Re: Bob Seger & the Silver Bullet Band

Went to a Guess Who concert circa 1976/77 and the openeing band was Bob Seger. Nobody knew who he was but by the end of his set everyone was asking "who is this guy"? Came back for 2 encores which was unheard of for an opening act and Bob Seger was all everyone was talking about after the show. Wasn't long and got the album "Live Bullet". What a career he has had with songs that will live on and on. Brought back alot of good memories.

Re: Bob Seger & the Silver Bullet Band

Night Moves is a classic album. Hadn't heard of him before that. My local had singles in their juke box.

Re: Bob Seger & the Silver Bullet Band

I hope he comes to Dallas again soon!!

Re: Bob Seger & the Silver Bullet Band

Been a fan since the '70's.  Turn the Page!  His cover of Fortunate Son!  Long Twin Silver Line!  House Behind a House...ah!  To see these, or any of his stuff live would be great.

Night Moves is epic.

The only one I could do without is Old Time Rock 'n Roll.  I blame radio for over playing that one.

Re: Bob Seger & the Silver Bullet Band

Rock n Roll dreams come true :

Evie Branan, the 79 year old Michigan woman whose first words after emerging from a coma that lasted five years were, “I want to go to a Bob Seger concert,” got her wish and more last night (April 11) when she met the rock legend backstage.
“He squatted down and put his arms around me, and gave me a kiss,’ Branan recounted to Detroit’s WXYZ News. “I gave him a kiss. I gave him another kiss. Whew! I’m full of Seger kisses.”

MLive.com reports Evie Branan cheered, threw her hands in the air and danced during Seger’s concert Thursday night at the Palace of Auburn Hills. She also met Seger and his family, talked with crew and band members and received VIP treatment for the show.

After receiving nationwide press coverage about her saga and after arriving at the concert in a stretched Chrysler limo, one would have been hard pressed not to think Evie was the main attraction for the evening. She called the night “the happiest I’ve been in a long time. I feel like a rock star.”

But of course, the highlight of the night for Ms. Branan was when out of the blue she was approached by Seger himself. The Detroit hero introduced himself and then fulfilled another of Branan’s wishes — he gave her a big hug.

“I never thought I would ever see this day,” Branan said while smiling so large her ears were getting wet. “Oh, man, it was a lot better than I thought it would be.”

Tim, Bob Seger was a 10 year overnight sensation with the release of "Night Moves".  Most likely you saw him in 1976 as that was THE year.  He was known quite well within short order.

You have stated what I repeated SEVERAL times over the years here about HOW MUCH people were blown away by Bob Seger and The Silver Bullet Band in that time.  2 encores for a second act was unheard of back then.  You want unheard of???????!!!!! Bob was the MID act in San Diego 1976, and we got THREE, yes 3 encores out of him then!!!  And believe me, we wanted them for ANOTHER (over 7 minutes of yelling and stomping-Bob was gracious to not deliver another, believe me) they were so incredibly good that night!!! Black Sabbath never got their **** kicked harder than that night...Ozzy was NOT beside himself ( lol ) that night, and he almost gave up 1/2 into their set...Sabbath was STILL Sabbath, but... they had to work hard to get people back to thinking who the ticket sales had listed at the top.  Totally amazing entertainment I will never forget.

Come back, Baby, rock and roll, uh..., what's the rest?! big_smile

Re: Bob Seger & the Silver Bullet Band

About to release a cover of John Hiatt's "Detroit Made". Album on the way methinks (its only been 8 years after all).

Re: Bob Seger & the Silver Bullet Band

New album "Ride Out" released October 14. Going by the title and comments made before, I think this will be his last studio album (and tour if he does one).
