Topic: Hi From So.Cal.

Been lurking and reading and thought I'd sign up. The wife & I are on Joe's e-mail notifications and enjoy getting new information. We both became fans of his when we saw him open for BB King at the Gibson Theater in Universal City. I don't remember what year it was but I remember the evening well. We found our seats and I went to go grab us a couple beers. I was standing in line waiting and heard this amazing guitarist and left the beer line and ran back to my seat. I asked the wife who this guy was and she said "Joe something or other". I sat through the performance and said we gotta write this name down. Sorry BB, but when you came on I went to go get our beers. Came back and enjoyed the evening. All the way home I kept yammering about Joe's abilities. I'm sure it wasn't the beer. I wasn't playing guitar at the time but played throughout high school. The wife and I got on Amazon and bought every CD available at that time. I'm pretty sure we have all music cd's and video's CD's including the new acoustic set soon to be released.

I will say, now that I'm playing again, 3yrs. now, Joe inspires me every time I pick up my guitar for my evening practice session. Yes Joe, just like you say in interview's, steal as many licks as you can for your library. Well, he's right and I do..... some of them his. smile

Cheers,
Mike

Welcome Mike. What part of Socal? We have a very active group of fans that get together at gigs around the area from time to time. Not exclusively Joe either but stuff we all like and relate to. It's fun to get together with like minded fans and share fun music and socialize.

I'm in the SO. Bay area. Work in El Segundo, grew up in Torrance. Did my first open mic night at the Starboard Attitude last year. Scared the crap out of me. I think I did it 5 times and it still scared the crap out of me. Funny, I raced motorcycles all my life and am an adrenalin junky, but put me in front of people.... knees start to buckle and mind goes to mush. Don't have any confidence in myself yet. Need more experience playing with others then maybe confidence will grow.

I was scared to death on my first race too, but I got over it and couldn't wait for the next one.

I'm mostly into blues but grew up with Led Zep back in the 70's so can listen or watch anything except the new heavy metal stuff.

Re: Hi From So.Cal.

Thanks all for the welcoming. As I mentioned, since the wife and I are JB fans and I'd been lurking and decided to join. Been home sick with the junk going around and making use of my time practicing scales... oh joy.

I'll be popping in and out looking around for other musicians in my "hood" for advice and gear talk. Funny, I have some very nice guitars and can't do them justice.... yet. But to much invested to give up and going to soldier through this because I was a big dummy and quit to pursue racing and a career. I took classical piano lessons for 10yrs. at a very young age. Probably where I get my ear instincts from.

Since I don't have a gold top yet, I'm eye balling the new BM Standard that is to be released.
I mean every LP player "has" to have a GT right.
