Topic: Miljenko "Mili" Matijevic and Steelheart

I was watching American Idol this season and one of my favorite singers got voted off.  Gabe Brown.
He was more of the Rocker dude on the show, but what I thoroughly loved about him was his range and power.  Boy could he belt.

And seeing him voted off, it made me think of Mili.  Not because they sound alike, I just think it was because of their range and style.

Miljenko  and Stealheart have been a favorite of mine. Steelheart has had a number of line-up changes. Unfortunately they had some tragedies, with Mili's stage accident. And later on, with former drummer John Fowler's passing away.  RIP John Fowler.

They did go out on tour in 2011, and hopefully they may release new material for 2013.  Miljenko is one of my favorite singers.  He would make me fall to my paws if I ever got to see him live.  I am totally blown away by his vocals.  But it is not just the vocals, I love their music. So it's the whole package.  But Miljenko is the main attraction for me.  He is just of a different stratosphere.

Anyway I have been on a "Mili" marathon and thought I would post some of Steelheart's music.
Others here may be more familiar with "Mili" from the movie "Rock Star" as he did the vocals for Mark Wahlberg.

This first song was re-recorded for the movie, so I thought I would put that up first.  Part of the movie line-up included Jason Bonham.  Warning: don't drink anything in a Crystal glass while listening to "Mili", it may end up all over your lap wink

Re: Miljenko "Mili" Matijevic and Steelheart

I was always a huge fan of the 80s early 90s metal. In my opinion, he puts ALL the "hair metal" singers to shame. I love Dio and Bruce Dickinson for what they do/did in singing, but for the more pop hair metal, I chose the above.

Me too, love 80s early 90s metal.

I am just so happy that they may be working on some new material and touring.

It's not a for sure thing, but something they posted.  I really loved the last album.  There was a lot of talent there in that period so love it when those bands  put something new out.

But Mili, I just wait to hear him sing and how he approaches a song.  Because he is just not a metal singer, but is one of the greatest metal singers there ever is.  He can be so aggresive in his singing and then have such tenderness in other places. He can break the sound barrier with his high notes. It's like a learning experience to hear his approach to a song.

Lol, he doesn't need a microphone.  Bring it on Mili :pray

With what he went through with the accident, it is just wonderful to still have him around.
You can tell this moment here meant a lot to him.  Thanks for sharing this with us Mili.

Well for me it's "Mili" March Madness

So I have to celebrate it with one of my favorite songs by him.  I think I am just anxious for them to get the next album done, so until then I will just keep going back to my tear jerker song.

Sorry Mili, I cannot forgive you for singing like this.  You take this song and make this so heart wrenching I feel your pain.  With you and just the piano, how can a girl not take you back when you sing with such passion?  Adding that vibrato to the high note at the end, you just know how to really finish a song and stick the dagger in it.  Metal at it's finest.  Although you can sing just about anything, even a lullaby.  A Metal lullaby, now that would be interesting.
