Re: We Want Grooove

The titular song 'We Want Grooove" from the first set of the first night, of 2 consecutive nights...from the brand new instrumental CD, for which the CD album "We Want Grooove" release partying Jan 23 & 24 were all about at the Baked Potato! big_smile

Re: We Want Grooove

From our seats the first night, I had a wonderful angle for everyone but Tal. The second song in the second set was aptly named "Work" since everyone had quite the solo. I am not usually into bass solos, but Mike Merritt is a man who knows how to work that bass. So cool to watch his hands pluck those strings.

Re: We Want Grooove

Holy freakin crap!! My husband just finished burning onto cd the recording he made of the first night. The sound quality is beyond amazing! Who would have thought that little tascam mic and an iphone could sound like this. I wonder if the band records their shows, because if not, I would think they would definitely want to have this. Joe, you have got to hear this! It will eventually be put up on DIME.

Re: We Want Grooove

OK, so what's wrong with me that I don't understand this?  Pardon my ignorance.
So Joe appears with RCFP live and records with them, but I have seen him billed several places as a "Guest".  So is he an "official" member of the band or not?

Confused.  Thanks for the help.

At the first gig I attended two years ago he was a sit-in. Obviously that worked. Yes, he is a member but not the main man. They are using J&R to distribute the release but it is a completely separate band as it appears to me.

I'd love to get a copy if at all possible!

Why don't we eliminate all the warning labels and let things sort themselves out?

When my husband uploads it onto DIME I will post in the "shows and setlists master torrent thread" that it is there.

Re: We Want Grooove

Got my copy of the CD in the mail on Saturday. Superlatives fail me. I can only imagine how the shows must've been, and the sheer joy of experiencing the band up close and personal. I wish I was there. Sadly, it was not to be. May be next time.

Joe, all I can say is this - You were born to play this material - and in no way am I diminishing all of your other rock and bluesrock efforts and accomplishments; but this one is just brilliant. Everyone in the band - and I mean everyone - has played their hats off, and as rightly said on the website, for the sheer joy of making music. This is improv and creativity at it's finest, especially at a time that the music business needs more creativity such as this (instead of designer perfumes and the like - you get the drift).

Tal - kudos for thinking of this idea, and bringing it all together in a most cohesive and intimate way. I am sure there will be much more material flowing out of this band. I look forward to more!!! It needs to be a flood!!!

And, might I add, a nice, sly, clever touch on the 10th track......wait.....wait.....wait......don't turn the darn player off......and you will be richly rewarded - Mr. Clean!!!!

Take note - There is a new, and extremely talented band on the planet, which (hopefully) will fill some very large shoes that are slowly fading into the limelight as some popular musicians get old.

Re: We Want Grooove

Here is the song "Heartbeat". This one also is not on the cd. It features first Renato on the keys, then Ron on guitar, then finishes up with another face melting solo by Joe. This is the song that made our candle flame pulse.

Try this:

Several candles were pulsing (especially those in a direct line of Tal's kick drum pushing air), but the one in front of you was displaying myriad colors and absolutely spot on timing, and was amazingly cosmic in nature! cool

Thanks Rocket, I changed it. As far as that candle goes, if that had occurred at a Dead show I would have thought I was tripping smile

Re: We Want Grooove

Listened to the album roughly 3 times now and it gets better with each go around. It sounds so fresh and is such a nice departure from Joe's solo stuff and BCC. I really hope they're successful, do some touring, and put out a few more albums.

I have to agree Manoj, this is brilliant stuff. Dean and I replayed the first set last night on the big screen via HDMI and now I pick up more than the first time live. One thing we both noticed is how Ron has stepped up remarkably after playing with Joe in the previous gigs at the Spud. Di Meola? Joe set a new mark on Sorceress. He lets it all hang out and just goes for it on that one and there were big smiles from him after several blistering solos on others. He is really having fun with this. Note the lack of applause after the Sorceress solo as we were too stunned to respond. True face-melting jaw-dropping stuff. This was one of the best gigs of any type I've ever attended. A huge bonus. The better half kind of goes along with my love of Blues/Rock. She's a huge Jazz fan and was in hog heaven Thursday. big_smile
