I hope in the interest of the 2 sets, 2 nights "Rock Candy Funk Party"-"We Want Groove" Album Release Party no one finds a need to post a video "publicly" (by "publicly", not here, not on Facebook, not to YouTube unless unlisted, but go ahead and make USE of JBXP-some from here might check out there instead, just a thought) until the last show is over.  It would be nice if agreed.  I know people wish they were there...been there NOT myself.

Why?  Not to diminish virtual attendance value, because that, along with the ability to replay again and again, hopefully, that sort of thing is of tremendous lasting value.  However, and I guess I am proffering an unproven hypothesis, that we are too quick to react to most everything in this day and rage...Has technology turned an old accepted wise saying upside down?  Perhaps where once a picture was worth a thousand words, might it now be a thousand well chosen words is worth 10,000 pictures?!  Just another written thought...Write a review.  What remains afterward in one's mind is the real beauty, because it is sharing yourself at a more personal level...about the band's performance.

I agree Rocket and always post here first, then to the big BonaNation group. If reading wright you suggest JBXP as the main outlet? We surely want to share with those Keeping the Faith firstest with the mostest. You suggest deferring upload shares until a text report is posted?  I'll pass the word. Heck, I just noticed that my yt channel now offers live streaming. Hmmm. I've a new hidef wifi enabled mini videocam and a cell digital 3g/4g wifi hotspot. Golly that gets the gears churning. I'm not sure how yet, or if the bandwidth is adequate, or if the band or venue would approve, but...

It's been allowed at the previous shows, lots of cameras rolling start to finish. (it takes a good camera since it is VERY low light) Audio should be no problem. I'm sure if dimed there will be joy.

Frankly, I just realized how impossible what I was thinking would work.  sad No details, it is moot.

Revised, Yeah, I guess a bunch of words and still photos as immediate reviews by anyone anywhere would be so refreshing and my thought were could we pump up the (CD and other merchandise sales) volume by a "pseudo-late" (in today's super fast whirled wild web) delivery of the Audio / Video "goods".

No offense intended to anyone, and I won't worry if someone, anyone, or everyone doesn't go along with this...PLEASE, it is not like I have authority or anything! Freedom! No worries and it is all good. cool

Now London in March, that's a different story!!! lol Hopefully, leaks everywhere, even if it is not raining!

Re: Live streaming-My old video camera was/is always able to do that, but it needed at least a laptop interface...I won't stream, however someone who might want to, might want to get permission, I don't know.  With it, something like streaming the last night, last show's first half set (that wi-fi might not make for the full duration, battery, bluetooth?, or connectivity wise, plus device capacity, I would hope AT LEAST 16G iPhone).  That could be awesome of it went off glitch and hitch free...

He is planning on putting it up on dime. We are anxious about how the recording will turn out since it will be the first time trying it out. Did some practice tests at home with the stereo cranked. We shall see, or rather hear, for that matter smile

The audio level in the club is reasonable, not really loud and the acoustics are good. A better than mp3 tape would be cool.

Not sure what you are bringing, but if it happens to be a condenser mic with auto leveling capability, use that for best, guaranteed results. wink  Might need a decent placement also, especially if mono.

They are stereo cardioid condenser mics with up to 125dB SPL input capacity (whatever that means). You can rotate them so they are variable angle and they have an onboard low-noise digital converter that connects digitally to the iphone. It's really just this small device that plugs into the bottom of the iphone, so the phone has to be held upside down. I built a liittle wooden stand for it since Rick had said there are tables that you sit at. Hoping we can just place it on the table and let it do its thing.

lol True, I said there were tables, just not how big. Bring matchbooks for stability control, and eat and drink gingerly. They are about 2X2 for two, and you're neighbor is in your lap. Sardines I say~ It'll be a gas.

It sounds like something I saw from Tascam.  The 125dB spec means you could record a jet engine or anything very very loud, likely with automatic level control (ALC).  The fact that they are cardioid means they have a heart-shaped pickup pattern, which classifies them as directional.  That also means they have an inherent bass boost at close distances.  Now you have a possible problem of, even with ALC, where you will have what might be more bass in your recording than you or the program material favor.  Here is where if you have a manual level control you can offset by recording a "set" lower level.  That adds the benefit of lowered distortion and less limiting / compression of the dynamics.  If there is a roll-off switch on the mics, use it!  If it has 2 frequencies, roll-off the higher of them (due to small room size).

Good Luck. smile

It is the one from Tascam. It has a limiter on/off switch which supposedly can help prevent distortion if the input level is too high. It also has an input level adjustment to help with distortion. Since it's never been tried in a live setting we have no idea how it'll all turn out, could be crap or could be wonderful. My husband agonized over buying it for about a month. I was like, just get it already.  Would be great if it works well because it is so small, the biggest issue is having enough battery power in the iphone to last 3-4 hours. We'll see soon enough how it all turns out. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Just as important is the available hard disk space!

Also, back to mic pickup placement,...
It may seem counter-intuitive on two issues, but, one, because of the directional qualities, rather than record from as close as possible, you may want to record as far back as possible to insure overall group coverage with truer fidelity, and two, the best high frequency response may possibly come from the mic pair pointing towards the back wall.  Believe it or not! You are going to get colorations (certain harmonic timbres enhanced or diminished) wherever you place this!
