Great show and a crystal-clear recording. What a pleasure to see and hear Reese Wynans again, 25 years after the last time I saw SRV. I wish I'd had this recording rig back in 1989/90 when SRV still walked the earth. Three of the four SRv shows I saw do not seem to have been recorded. Anyway, Joe tends to draw a rowdy crowd, but nearby talking during the quieter segments was minimal. Very happy with this one. With headphones or earbuds, it sounds like you're there. I took a bunch of cell phone photos, and have included some highlights.
Enjoy!

Re: Joe Bonamassa master torrent thread

I apologize if this has been posted previouly (as I suspect) but prolonged browsing and typing on a mobile device is not yet in my comfort zone - so here goes..

Does anyone know which concert date marked the final performance for Joe with Eric Czar and Kenny Krame? I see it was late November that Joe posted about the change, and he mentioned replacements for upcoming dates in mid-December of 2005. If you have links or specific torrents you know, I'd appreciate the info. Thanks in advance.

This old show of mine fell off the tracker some time ago & has recently been requested ... so here it is...

So it's now 7.5 years since the 1st time I first saw Joe live & recorded this 1st ever gig in the UK ... after this show I was well & trully hooked ... 'though recent ticket prices (!!! How Much !!!) have put me off going to see him on his last couple of UK tours.

This is a brand new mastering from my original JB3 wav file. It has turned out very nice and IMHO a wee bit nicer than my 1st go at it back in 2005. If you already have the original from 2005 then you must decide if you also need this latest version.

A great performance by this version of the band (with Eric Czar - Bass; Kenny Kramme - Drums) plus the fact that this was Joe's first ever English show make this a worthy addition to any collection (if you don't already have it).

For those interested - basic details of the new mastering applied to my original JB3 recording (using Wavelab6 & Har-Bal) are as follows:
(a) Left & Right channel EQ Matching
(b) EQ / Compression / Limiting (-0.6dB max)
(c) fade ins & outs
(d) track split

A note for any finicky audiophiles out there:
Mastering has been done to polish the raw master recording with the aim of enhancing the listening experience. If you prefer virgin recordings, unspoiled by any such amateur 'dabbling' then do not join in on this one. Be warned now ... I don't want any whinging! ;-)

But for the rest of you Dime'ers I recommend that you GO FOR THIS ONE ... you won't be disappointed!
I score the sound quality as 9 out of 10 ( = A- );
but hey! ... don't flame me if you don't agree ... & at least keep it friendly ;-)

If you have any comments, whether positive, negative or otherwise, I would love to read them ... don't be a lurker!

Recorded from the front row right in front of Joe. I had some trouble finding the right audio level during the first two songs,
as the H1 was attached to the hot shoe of the Panasonic LX100 camera, making it difficult to monitor the audio level readings on the H1.
Thus volume level was raised by a few db during the first two songs and during the quiet part of Double Trouble) plus some equalization applied in Vegas Pro 13.
During Love Ain't A Love Song I had to change batteries on the camera, which caused some deterioration of audio quality for a short while. Overall I am pleased with the sound,
especially after the first few songs. The encores were recorded standing up, and they have the best sound quality naturally.

This was the longest concert on the Fall European Tour 2015, the running time on the 2cd being 2hrs 18 minutes. Enjoy.

I score the sound quality as 9 out of 10 ( = A- );
but hey! ... don't flame me if you don't agree ... & at least keep it friendly ;-)

If you have any comments, whether positive, negative or otherwise, I would love to read them ... don't be a lurker!

Re: Joe Bonamassa master torrent thread

Thanks a ton, Steve for giving a second chance:)! The recording sounds great. In fact, while listening to it on my way to work this morning, I couldn't help but notice how his playing has changed over the years. And quite frankly, I kinda miss this old Joe, who really showcased his talents in every way in his solos. Today we hear him follow the less is more maxim almost too diligently to my mind at least, where quick runs have been increasingly replaced by long bends a'la Albert King and the like. Perhaps this is due to him incorporating more standard blues (the Three Kings) into the set, but you see it in other songs as well. Much as I still love his concerts today, I would like to be more in awe of his mastery, as is the case with this recording.

In any case, to my mind (don't get offended) there should be more blues rock and his own compositions and less standard blues in his sets. That's really what sets him apart from thousands of blues players doing the three kings out there.

I just upped the Helsinki show from this Fall to Dime. Which do I prefer, that or this one? I love them both, but this one for sure.

Less is more, but sometimes more is actually more. At least more or less so.

Cheers,
Marko

Joe Bonamassa - Mr Kyps, Poole, UK - First Ever English Show - 2005-05-18 (Aud)

In case you didn't see my other post on this one .....

For anyone who doesn't have a copy of my recording from Joe's 1st ever English gig in 2005 (& there can't be many by now as it's all over the web (though mainly in mp3) .... including some with a $ price, much to my disappointment & anger!!!!), below is a WeTransfer link for you to be able to download my re-remaster from 2013 when I last posted it on Dime (in flac format). If you've not heard it it is highly recommended.

Cheers - Steve
