Re: Joe Bonamassa master torrent thread
Oh man, the whistler is awful! But we need him I guess for separating the good ones from the bad ones. LOL

Like I have said, perhaps a car ran the guy over after the show or he moved out of the area. Anyway, at least I know what he looks like and will move prior to the start of the show next time if he's there. I doubt telling him to shut up will work after 3 pitchers of Guinness.
Did anyone record the Ft. Wayne show? It was amazing and I'd LOVE to get a copy!
Wow I didn't read any actual posts but the thread looks great, I myself have just gotten into downloading much off of torrent files, and I'm looking foward to getting more Bonamassa live gigs, since my favorite Joe is live Joe!
Hey together, I'll to try to tape the next show in Germany or Switzerland, I'm kinda wondering that there are only a few bootlegs around :-(. Every single show is welcome!
Lee,
Thanks for the shank hall show and the bluesmore fest both are great recordings with good sound quality. For all tapers what is the best equipment to use for the best sound qualityand how expensive is it to get started.I want to start taping shows so i need some input.

Get a hard drive recorder. The Edirol R-09 is popular these days..retails for about $400.
I get my mics from Sound Professionals and prefer cardoids:

Don't go cheap on the mics. You can have the best recorder in the world, but with bad mics, garbage in, garbage out.
My setup is about $1,000 - $1,500, I use DAT, which I have been using since 1995. If I entered taping today I'd go with a hard drive recorder.
Belexes,
Thanks for your input. The edirol r-09 has a built in stereo mic how good do you think it would it would record. Do you use one or two mikes when you record and where do you put them when you record? Also edirol records in either wav/mp3 format other people on this site said they don't like mp3 format as source material, can this be uploaded in bit torrent format?

OMG, do not **ever** use the built in mic of any equipment. That is meant for dictation and the sound quality won't be there.
Use stereo, right/left mics, not a single. You'll find stereo cardoid mics on the page I gave above. You can buy them with alligator clips and then attach them where you see fit. Some people where a baseball cap and put them there. I put them near my shoulders so I can space them about a foot apart for stereo separation between the two channels.
MP3 is lossy. Avoid this format at all costs. Record a WAV file, then there is free software out there to split the 1 large WAV up into the different tracks. If you upload an MP3 at Dimeadozen, you'll get banned.
I am not sure if you can change the recordings levels on the fly on the edirol. Something to look into. Once you start recording, you need to adjust the recording level for the optimal capture.
Also remember recording can be not all that fun when the show is going on. I can't move, go to the bathroom, clap, etc so you do lose freedom when recording a show, but it can be worth it if you are happy with the results.
I saw online that there is a bootleg called Live at The Cabooze (2002) - 2 CDs.
I have like 99.5% done so I could preview a few songs and the quality is amazing. Unfortunately, with bit torrent, only about half of the songs are listenable, the others having skips in them. Does anyone have the audio to this concert? I am dieing to get the whole thing. Thanks so much!

Wow! This looks so tasty! Walter, Bonamassa? Awesome! Thanks for that post.
I'm not sure how many live show traders we have at this forum. If you are unaware of bit torrents, just Google it and you should find all the information you need to get up to speed with downloading live shows over the Internet. Since Joe is taper friendly, my plan is to post links to various Joe Bonamassa audio and video recordings that are available for downloading (and then burning to CD or DVD as appropriate).
Dimeadozen is the main site I frequent. You have to register to see and download torrent files. Follow the instructions on the main page to get started.
why don't you download your own tracker and then when you pull the show and the files you can put the torrent up on your tracker and then everyone from the site can grab it . this way you don't have to worry about signing up for other sites . my friends and i do it all the time makes it real easy we all have trackers so anytime we get shows we post them on the tracker and let everyone know its on and after that they can start to download it . just some food for the brain.joe
Dimeadozen is a better way to distribute shows versus a private tracker. I have had 300+ people download my shows from Dime and I doubt I could get even 1/2 that figure from a private tracker.
To each their own I guess...
