Re: RIP Jon Lord
One of my earliest memories of rock - listening to DP in the early 70's :-)
Didn't get to see them live until after Jon had left the band, but then I did have the opportunity to see him perform in January 2010 performing the Concerto for Group & Orchestra in Potsdam.
after which the following setlist;
Pictures of Home
Evening Song
Bouree
Pictured Within
Telemann Experiment
Wait A While
Gigue
Soldier Of Fortune
Child In Time
What a terrific performance, well worth the 10+ hours getting there by car, plane, train, taxi and the bitterly cold -12 winter!
My wife had no idea what to expect and was simply overwhelmed, as was I.
Rounded off with a real surprise when I had the chance to meet the man himself when he walked into our hotel later that evening!
Looking forward to the new album with Joe, Bruce Dickinson, Steve Morse etc, due for release in September.
Thank you Jon for the great memories and the great music, sadly missed
RIP
