Actually it was "Some people are better read than said" but I'm sure it can be the other way around. smile

"I think that the mere fact there has been so many responses to this review is a great testimonial to the emotion Joe brings out in people at one of his shows. If we all didn't feel something from Joe, we wouldn't be writing anything.  Joe Bonamassa is probably the most fan-friendly artist there is.  That alone says a lot to the connection he feels with his fans....the worldwide following Joe has is because he is still a down to earth kind of guy.  If he has such a large ego he wouldn't give us the time of day.....Joe has given us the time of day for a lot of years......I have always admired Joe for just being Joe.  Everyone's entitled to their own opinion but the reviewer also has to expect that everyone is not going to agree with her.  Joe fans are some of the most loyal fans you will ever meet.  And we all love Tal,Rick, and Carmine....world-class musicians...they have been on the music scene for a long time and seem like family to all of us.  I am sorry you didn't feel the connection that the rest of us feel very honored to have....."

My above post was on page 22......the sheer number of comments should address how Joes "moves us"

Re: Critical article on Syracuse show "say it ain't so Joe"

I'm sure the writer knows all about "paying dues" when it comes to music. Clearly they picked the best person for the job...

I also love how some people think its fine to trash someone as long as they do throw in some praise. Like when people preface a statement with: "no disrespect", like that makes everything ok and they have the green light to be rude and ignorant.

Perhaps this "writer" should have done more research prior to the show before jumping to conclusions. She obviously mistook pure emotion and attitude for arrogance and an ego. -S

This editor states, the music was "impressive" but not "moving" which is what the blues should be. Also stated the band itself played a passive role in the show, and didn't show any team or cohesive vibes... basically a backing track for Joe while JB had an egotistical swagger instead of one that has "paid his dues." The he goes on to praise how good every song was. lol

Joe,

We've got your back dude!

A person has to be emotionally dead to not feel the passion you have for blues/blues rock and the respect you show not only to your band, but to your many fans and Street Teamers.  Lil Eddie and I felt that connection like a lightening bolt the FIRST time we heard you play Blues Deluxe in 2005 and that feeling has not diminished over the past 7 years AND it propelled us to London to see you at the RAH!  If you were not the way you are as a person (humble, generous with your time, respectful to fans, and appreciative of those who helped you along the way), we wouldn't give you the time of day!  We share OUR time only with people who appreciate and respect us!

Patty nailed it when she said "I think that the mere fact there has been so many responses to this review is a great testimonial to the emotion Joe brings out in people at one of his shows.  If we all didn't feel something from Joe, we wouldn't be writing anything."

By the way, we love the fact that you respect our time too by starting your shows on time AND for giving a full 2 hours of yourself on that stage, without a break, to share your passion with all of us.

Re: Critical article on Syracuse show "say it ain't so Joe"

When I worked years ago in the New Age Music industry we saw this a lot.  They always sent either the Jazz or the Classical reviewer because, 'hey, it's all instrumental music, right?'  Chances are this just wasn't the reviewers kind of music and the appreciation of style, grace and talent wasn't something they could grasp.  My husband I I saw Joe for the first time in Indy earlier this month and I won't be happy until we can go again.  The CD's are terrific but live just blew us away.  Energy and  emotion were everywhere, all of us giving and getting.  too bad that reviewer didn't get a little of it!!!

Right on Joe! F the press. See ya tonight at the Casino! Haven't been to the Casino since I saw Jon Butcher Axis there like 25 years ago LOL. Can't wait. Love the fact that you put Last Kiss and Blues Deluxe back into the setlist.  Awesome.

Joe,

Stay out of this type of crap, not worth your time.

WE will take care of what's her name and all those like her.

Keep playing, keep smiling, take a rest now and then.

See you in Vienna.

Re: Critical article on Syracuse show "say it ain't so Joe"

Hmm.  Not to be the devil's advocate . . . but I do have one observation make.  Band member interaction does seem somewhat light these days beyond Young Man Blues.  Rightly so, the main focus should be the songs and the connection to the audience - and we've got that in spades.  But I like to see natural and affectionate band interaction too.  Let's me know these guys believe in the product and not just on stage to earn a pay check.  I am not at all suggesting this is in any way going on with Joe's band.  I LOVE this version of the band.  I just wouldn't mind some of that personal connection to show through more.

Couldnt agree more. Just another example of why the newspaper business is failing miserably. You can't send a chamber music critic to a concert like this and expect a fair and unbiased review. She's obviously unarmed in her battle to become someone of noteriety.

Re: Critical article on Syracuse show "say it ain't so Joe"

People who do not have a love for music should not  be in the music journalism industry.. you can clearly tell this by the way the reviewer talked about Joe and other music reviews she has done. She as absolutely no concept for what real music is. The only way she knows how to write is by criticizing. If she was my employee, she'd be fired....
