Couldn't believe the Django opening when he played this in the UK. What awesome control , sound and feel. One of the many highlights to a brilliant show. Thanks for your many great quality vids.

Come on the Blades (sorry Idolbone just had to borrow your line)

Re: Saban Theater, Beverly Hills, CA April 17, 2012

I went with my brother-in law, who is a musician himself.  We really enjoyed the show, but the sound was too loud, especially the high end, which made the mix muddy.  I attended the Riverside, CA  show a couple of years ago and I was not impressed with the sound then either (I thought it was the venue).   I definitely don't think it was the venue this time, but the mix.   That said, we thought the performance was really good.

My 2 cents,

Frank

I almost didn't upload this one, it's a bit shaky because of the late arrivals in the row in front of me ( I was in the second row when the show started) But I thought what the heck you can still hear the song. So here you go Slow Train.

OK last one.  This is missing about 30 seconds from the intro, had to change the storage card. Yes I missed the Stariway to heaven part, sorry.  But at about 4 mins Carmine and Joe go at it right in front of the camera.

It was so nice to get hugs from some of my favorite peeps! Rocket, Front Row Fred, The Shu, my one and only Miss Linda Moke & Libby!!! It was a special night for me as it was my Mom's first true Bonamassa gig. She was blown away, not only by the show but by all you lovely people as well!

Not sure if it was a theater union guy doing the mixing, some older gent I had not seen before (who looked strangely familiar, but I didn't approach to chat ever), but I would have to say it wasn't the mix per se if you had issues, it was the sound distribution. I monitorited with a real time analyzer on my iPad, and at the board the sound was perfect.  Audience left mid rear orchestra seats had a localized excessive bass problem and balcony had a significant high end assault, (which may not have been bad for those whose ears struggle to hear high end sounds), likely due to column placement and (lack of proper) angle (for this particular theater).

You really need to explain how "too loud, especially the high end, made the mix sound muddy" is even possible.  Makes your credibility suspect unless you merely misspoke...

Names which I will not drop were in abundance at this show.

Hey Rocket, I was in the balcony about 7 rows back center, so maybe I mispoke, but you said there was a high-end assault on the balcony, and I can confirm that for sure.   It started with the last song played through PA (Iron Maiden) and continued on with JB's set.   If the problem was the theater, which I am not sold on becasue prior to the Maiden song, the music through the PA was fine (I know pre-show music is not necessarily indicative of the sound once the show starts), then I hope management books better sounding places.

This is the second show that I have attended that I have been less than impressed with the sound.  I didn't ruin the show, but it could have been better.

My 2 Cents,

Frank

Sure, but you can't get "muddy" out of a high end assault, sorry.  Muddy was NOT in the mix this night, even though bass response was very "active" acoustically nearly every other place in the theater.  The mix was definitely ok.  Could've been better? Sure, but how much better is really needed? I'd have to work the board to know what I would actually do, let alone suggest...Hard to find better personal sonic pleasure than Joe Bonamassa & this band anywhere I've seen them...but could.  Recording artists I spoke with were pleased with the sound as was I.
