Topic: Piano Recommendation?

I'm looking for a piano player with some speed. Like a piano version of Joe Bonamassa smile

Something rock/blues/jazz with speed. Just someone to be in awe of instead of the slower mellow piano playing that I know of. Any recommendations?

The only one I know of is Jon McLaughlin.

Re: Piano Recommendation?

Check out Billy Joel's 1976 release, Turnstiles. One cut in particular, "Prelude/Angry Young Man" has some smokin' piano on it. I think it's his best record, released before he became more of a mainstream Pop artist. It's as relevant today as when it came out 30+ years ago!

Re: Piano Recommendation?

My favourite guitarist would have to be Jools Holland. He may not be "fast" as such but he can definately play and he specialises in that boogie sorta music. Definately worth a look if you ask me smile

Re: Piano Recommendation?

I don't think I've ever heard a wilder piano riff than Billy Powell on Skynyrds cover of Call Me The Breeze. Live or the studio version it ranks as my all time favorite. Another fave is Leon Russell with Freddy King doin' Goin'Down. Billy & Leon about as good as rock piano gets IMO.
