Re: Blackpool 5th April

Blackpool was my first JoBo show! Every time he's been in the North west I've been gigging :-( but really glad I got the chance to see him... Not only that, thanks to Michael, I got to sit in Joes sound check and meet him and the guys before the show! :-) he was such a nice guy, took the piss out of my 'fake' Gibson ( vintage icon based on Joes Gold top) though, but all in good fun :-)

Incidentally, did Joe play it at all? What did he say about the Vintage? I know he didn't approve of the idea initially as Trev W neglected to send one for evaluation. Unwise in my opinion as I suspect that Joe's a fair-minded sort and would've approved of a decent sounding and playing 'tribute' guitar for virtually no money. It'd be interesting to know what he really thought about it. Certainly my V100IT knocks spots of every epi LP I've ever tried, although the JB Epi does have proper Gibson pups, which should, along with Joe's input, raise its game way above the usual overpriced Epiphone cr4p. Whether it'd justify being twice the price of the Vintage I don't know. 'Course, as Trev would tell you, the 'JBM' part of the model name actually stands for 'Jazz-Blues-Model'... wink ...it's pure coincidence that it's a black-backed gold top with mismatched knobs and black plastics... They overdid the relicing though - Joe's is shiny.

:-) yes he did play it, not through an amp, but he did play it...and made a joke...."that thief Trevor Wilkinson..."

I bought it basically for a back up to my Gibson Les Paul 59' reissue...and the fact it was made to represent joes was a bonus...if you go to our Facebook page you can see a pic of me and joe.
To be fair, the vintage actually sounds pretty good, and especially for e money they chuck them out at! Far better than any other cheaper Les Paul type guitar I've played.

I'm now endorsed by endorsed by vintage, and am going to Leeds on Tuesday to get a few new toys...one being their best, the Gary Moore / Peter Green icon one...I spoke to Buddy Whittington recently, and he owns one and says they are beautiful.
