Re: My Next Concert (s)

You'll be pleased to know that even with  scaled down theatrics they are musically better than ever. Prairie Prince is still teaching the young pups how to play rock drum, Fee has been in fine voice, and Roger Steen has become a truly great funk rock guitarist. He has taken to close every show with a 3-4 minute "Third Stone from the Sun" solo that (almost, lol) never rails to impress.

Awesome holdem, caught 3 of their shows on a 2 week run in '76 @ Bimbo's 365 Club in SF. They were really coming into their own about that time and were way ahead of the curve. Like music videos, but live on stage. Comedy, satire, politics, & killer rock n roll music.

I am less than 24 hours away from seeing Roger Waters-The Wall and KFC Yum Center in Louisville smile Decent seats I hope in lower arena. It's finally here, I can't wait, we've had these tickets since November! I saw Pink Floyd at Rupp Arena in Nov 1987, upper arena seat $18.50, add $100.00 to that price for this show lower arena 25 years later yikes

Green with envy Murray, Petty is one act I've never seen yet. Saw BS once, would trade that for a Petty experience in a Heartbreaker....I mean heartbeat!

Last Sunday Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers played in the O2 World Hamburg. I'm not a fan of those big venues on one hand and on the other hand Lynyrd Skynyrd played in the Stadtpark on the same day.
So I didn't know how to decide since month. . . but in the end Tom Petty made it for me!!! Still happy about . . .

Probably my choice as well since I've never seen TP, but have seen Skynyrd 25-30 times, even though they are my favorite band.

The 2 Irish shows were sensational so you are in for a treat. See you there.

Wow that's a great week of shows! I've seen Petty 6 or 7 and would go 6 or 7 more, they never disappoint. A close friend from here in Kentucky saw Springsteen in San Sebastian back on June 2nd. She said it was an awesome show, it was raining that day and he opened with Who'll Stop the Rain cool Enjoy the shows!

Re: My Next Concert (s)

Bit low-key compared to some of the recent posts above;

The Buck Inn, Reeth - Popa Chubby. Had hoped that, Ron Sayer Jr would be opening but looks like he's doing a session for Paul Jones Show in Maida Vale - should be worth listening out for.

Late starter, 10pm due to some footballists game being televised.

Re: My Next Concert (s)

A free local festival (Northlake Days, for those who know the greater Chicago area).  Daryl Steurmer, Friday night (6/22), preceeded by Kashmir (Led Zeppelin tribute).

EDIT:  What a show it was, too!  Perfect night, amped up crowd (but not rowdy), Kashmir a welcome surprise (my first time to see them).  And Daryl Steurmer knocked it out of the park.  Solid 2 hour non-stop set.  Forrest "Woody" Mankowski playing horns and providing vocals.  Excellent mix of Genesis, Phil Collins, and Daryl's solo material.  I didn't try to capture a set list, but some highlights:

Squonk / Land of Confusion - Instrumental / I Can't Dance / Heavy Heart / No Son of Mine and lots more.

Play like you've worked at it, and don't worry about sounding like your influences.  You can't cheat on them, or your practice, anyway.  If you've worked hard at your skill, your audience will know it.

July 1st - ZZ Top - Naperville Ribfest
July 3rd - Joe Walsh - Milwaukee Summerfest

Now growing up it ain't anything but all This indecision with these debts and doubts
And worries hanging over my head. When I was a child I spoke as a child,
I wish I could remember what I said.
