This Wednesday, 6th June, Slash at the Hammersmith Apollo. First live concert for my 13 year old daughter.

Wow, nice one Dad! big_smile

You'd better cover her ears. Slash isn't shy when it comes to four letter words. yikes

Should be one hell of a first gig and one she'll remember for the rest of her life.

It was my other half b/d treat - we enjoyed. Something that was new to me.... we were all given electronic wrist bands to wear, that all lit up during parts of the show - it was impressive lol

edit: Tomorrow - Joss Stone - this time at Chelsea - Under The Bridge! lol

I suspected that might be the case. The things we do for love, eh? lol

I'd be interested to hear about Under the Bridge as a venue as a few of us will be there on the 4th July for the Gov't Mule gig and it's not somewhere I've been before.

Give my regards to Roman. big_smile

Yeah, I can't wait. Never saw them live. I wish the new generation Southern Rock bands would tour Europe more often. Blackberry Smoke, Whiskey Myers and the like.

Awesome holdem, caught 3 of their shows on a 2 week run in '76 @ Bimbo's 365 Club in SF. They were really coming into their own about that time and were way ahead of the curve. Like music videos, but live on stage. Comedy, satire, politics, & killer rock n roll music.

Joss Stone was great last night! She had a 'wardrobe malfunction' two songs in  smile -  had to leave the stage, changed into another sexy outfit! Her band - #10 in all ! - were tight through out!

The Venue:  Small, with a Night Club feel. The club was a sell-out last night, and i guess held around 300/400, but  still enough room to move around. Lots of past music artists pictures around the walls.
The sound was good, and not over loud. The light show was good as well.
Mainly standing, but some stools were available. Two Bars, Expect to pay £8 per pint for larger, £4.50 per (plastic) glass of wine.
Here's a plus - the toilets are fabulous!!
Club staff were many, helpful and friendly.
We will definitely go again!

Oh yeah, Harvey Goldsmith was there - made the introductions.

Re: My Next Concert (s)

Thanks for the review, Brack - much appreciated. I have a couple of supplementary questions.

Are the stools at the bar only and do they have backs?

Do they search bags at the door?

How near to the stage can one get? Is there a barrier?

Good to hear the excessive cost of drinks is being spent on the loos. smile What a change it will be to places like the 100 Club and Borderline where ...... use your imagination. roll

It must be a decent sized stage if there were 10 musicians on it. Actually it sounds like a great place for Joe to play for his dedicated UK fans. Now, if I win the Euromillions this week...... big_smile

Thanks
Phil

The stools aren't at the bar - I saw some with a 'reserved' notice on them. Stools have backs - but not tall backs, but comfortable.

No bag search with us - but i think it's a random search policy.

There's no stage barrier - you can stand next to the stage.

We were saying as well - this place would be great for a intimate Joe gig.

I have added a link to my review - you get more of a 'feel' the the place.
