Re: Virgil and the Accelerators

Aye but they cant play Kinross and Edinburgh on 4 May or can they?

Re: Virgil and the Accelerators

Been a bit long overdue, getting my latest VATA fix; not being able to get to the DVD shoot and missing the recent Tracer tour, so no way was I going to miss the lads at probably their poshest venue to date - Gateshead Sage (Hall 2).

Unfortunately, due to traffic, just missed Virgil's opening salvo, by the time I got in, he'd got the Les Paul strapped on and was blazing through Refuse to Believe then '88 and his SRV homage on which I swear his fingers get faster everytime I watch him. Closing the set came a real treat - the guys have decided to "rest" Silver Giver and absolutely tore into their more usual full show encore piece, the Are You Experienced medely. Make no mistake, Virgil, Gabriel & Jack are so tightly in-tune with each other, they now OWN this track - think it should be re-titled Are You Accelerated.

For a hall that holds around the 400 mark, VATA held an audience of around 200 for their set. To put it another way, they'd have filled The Cluny over the water in Newcastle with that audience: however, Larry Miller was playing there that night.

Another band came on a little later - Wilko Johnson; didn't catch the set myself, but reports were that he delivered, as usual. Lets face it though, a good set from Wilko, Norman & Dylan is like a rain on a Bank Holiday - never fails. There was one disturbing development though - Wilko was seen to be smiling!!!!!

Solo dates coming in for next May: Chislehurst (9th), Sutton (10th), Derby (17th) & Wolverhampton (29th). Looks like another bumper year for the lads.

Re: Virgil and the Accelerators

Hey Martin, any chance the VATA website can be brought up to date?

Re: Virgil and the Accelerators

Hi Kenny,
If you mean with these dates, they should not be advertised yet (its not a problem though). Since they are out, we will get on it:)

Re: Virgil and the Accelerators

It's not a problem at all Mike. Sometimes we are asked to hold back on releasing dates but I am glad when someone else does wink

Re: Virgil and the Accelerators

Heard from one of the outlets for Mainsforth; there are as many buying tickets to see The Accelerators as there are Dr Feelgood (and it's usually packed to see the Dr.).

Re: Virgil and the Accelerators

I see Backstage at The Green Hotel still has VATA listed for the 4th May. I assume this has been cancelled as the VATA website shows them supporting From The Jam in Edinburgh that night?

Re: Virgil and the Accelerators

Lots of rescheduling and other dates are being figured out right now. Will update as soon as we have everything written in stone.

Re: Virgil and the Accelerators

I hope back soon in The Netherlands or Belgium after the problems with the earlier agent for the Benelux.

Re: Virgil and the Accelerators

So what does Virgil do when he suddenly finds himself with an unexpected night off? He pops up the road to see his mate Aynsley Lister play - with inevitable consequenses............ big_smile
