Topic: Which venue hasn't Joe played that you would like to see him play?

Okay, maybe this has been posted already.  In that case, just disregard.  If not, which venue would you love to see Joe play that he hasn't and why?

I would like to see Joe play at the Slipknot in Fremont, Wisconsin.  I don't get out much so I want him to play as close to my home as possible.  I have to confess that I've never actually been here, but many great musicians such as Bryan Lee have played here in the past.  It is also located on the water and I'm told they have great food.

Oh, that's easy.  My back yard. lol  smile
No, seriously, I would love to see him play either at the HOB Orlando at Disney, or the Hard Rock, Orlando  at Universal.  The reason?  I don't have to drive very far to see him play.  I have seen bands at both these venues and if I had to choose, I would probably wish for the Hard Rock.  I just like Universal City Walk.  It's a fun place.

I would luv to see Joe,Mark, and Bogie at the Val-Air Ballroom in Des Moines.  It is similar in nature to The Surf in Clear Lake (famous for Buddy Holly) where I have seen Joe twice.  Because of being in Des Moines, Joe could pack this place. Could easily hold 2000+. Lindsay Buckingham was just there the other night.  Have seen numerous shows there and it's always a great turnout.  Then there's the Des Moines Civic Center where BB King plays when he comes to town.  Or there's Hoyt Sherman Place where the likes of Government Mule, Derek Trucks,etc... play. Or the summer outdoor down-by-the-river scene at the Simon Estes Ampitheatre where again many have played and the Mule has played it, too...fireworkd shooting off over the river...it's quite nice. And then there's the big mother lode, Wells Fargo Arena which holds many thousands of people.  I think the only place Joe has played in Des Moines was Blues on Grand, which is not much of a place to look at, but it's one of those places that has a great laid-back vibe to it.  I think Joe's sound is probably way too big for that place now.  So I come back to the Val-Air Ballroom.....I know it's selfish thinking, but I would luv for Joe to play there.  I am still totally AMAZED AND GRATEFUL that Joe has come to Iowa twice since my discovery of him......thanks....but I have done the trek to Chicago....Kansas City.....and Elgin in May.  It would really be fun to have him a hop, skip, stones-throw away...Des Moines is 12 miles from me.   thanks for reading....pattyluvsjoe wink

Gotta agree with you on Albert  Hall, 24 nights is my favorite from my Clapton. I'll fly in for the history making show,

Re: Which venue hasn't Joe played that you would like to see him play?

I've never been to the Keswick, but I've heard very good things about it and some cool artists have played there, Swloessy.  Thought about heading up there to see Musical Box one time but it was too much of a production (Philly is about a 3-hour drive from here).

Just saw G3 last night at the historic Warner Theater in Washington, DC, that'd be a pretty cool place...or DAR Constitution Hall, though, like Jane, I prefer a venue I can move and breathe in a a bit and not be stuffed into too-small seats, even though they both have pretty decent acoustics.

SIgn me up for JoeFest pretty much anywhere in the USA and I'll be there with bells on :-)

Keep on rockin' the blues....

Sign me up for Joefest!! Remember, it should be close to the east coast so our European friends can come. Since we never could come up with a b-day present for Joe, let's give this to US!

Front room for me, though I think my next door neighbour may have other ideas.

Having seen him at Shepherds Bush, I know he can command a big Audience. Albert Hall would be real nice, another 12 months and he could just do it!! The respect he engenders from already established musicians really could elevate him to star status, but Joe needs more national airplay on regular shows rather than niche programs.

Yes, I know we want to keep him for ourselves but hey - who have you told about Joe today?

Joe, see if you can provide that "single" for mainstream play - that could elevate your status almost overnight.

why would you want joe to go mainstream for. that would suck . corporation bs . people who aren't into the music at the shows all they would want to hear is the radio play mainstream song it would over all suck . look at any band that was mainstream take clapton for a example listen to the people that go to his shows all they want to hear is the mainstream stuff and the real fans want to hear him jam and play the stuff you don't hear on the radio . that would be the death of joe if he went mainstream . let him build a fan base the way he is it might take a little bit more time to play madison square garden but he will get there and when he does it will be filled with fans that will just want to hear him play . another example the grateful dead no mainstream but they can sell out any place they wanted to play took them some time to get there but in the end it was worth not selling out to the mainstream america ....joe

Re: Which venue hasn't Joe played that you would like to see him play?

Lakeside festival in Crystal Lake, Il. This is a festival that spans two weekends with various bands playing throughout the week, and headliners on Saturday nights.
Tons of people show up on Saturday nights to sit in the beer garden and listen to music. I would just love to see the faces in that crowd if Joe played there. Been some decent bands there, but Joe's in another league.

Re: Which venue hasn't Joe played that you would like to see him play?

My first choice would be the Bayfront Blues Festival in Duluth, MN. Great setting and great crowds (I think it's 8000-10,000/day conservatively). Another is the St. Paul Blues Festival which is a smaller one day event. The Wild River Festival made its debut last year in St. Paul and would also be good.
Since Joe seems to be moving more towards theater venues there are a number of possibilities. The State, Guthrie, Pantages and Varsity in Minneapolis, and the Fitzgerald in St. Paul.
The Fine Line in Minneapolis is a nice bar venue.
