Re: The Mentulls

When do the Mentulls plan on having their website store set up to sell to the U.S. so we can get some hard copies cd's of the 1st album over here?

When I was a child I spoke as a child, But all I heard was how I should get ahead,
Now growing up it ain't anything but all This indecision with these debts and doubts
And worries hanging over my head. When I was a child I spoke as a child,
I wish I could remember what I said.

These guys are well worth a listen. Caught them supporting Walter Trout at the back end of last year. I think the whole audience were pleasantly surprised at just how good they were.

Re: The Mentulls

Well, Andrew certainly acquitted himself in fine style again on Saturday night. You would think a quiet, little 30 minute acoustic set on home ground would be a walk in the park, but when it's to a packed house and you're opening for the Nimmo Brothers, its a new guy on the sound desk, never mind that you're not yet 18: that's a new level of stress. And while Andrew has plenty of stage hours under his belt, it is a whole new game being out there on your own with just an acoustic guitar.

So, for only a second attempt at such a spot, Andrew came out swinging with a good run at Red House and then dipped well into some Wishbone Ash back-catalogue before re-working something from the "day-job". Then came a pleasant surprise and something a little "left-field" as only The Mentulls can, a superb working of Barclay James Harvest's Mockingbird leading into a dirty grooved Green Manalishi and a new song from the upcoming album.

A well-balanced and well-executed set; if you don't believe me, you should have heard the endorsement from none other than Alan Nimmo,

Re: The Mentulls

Caught Andrew on stage solo again at the week-end, this time at Darlington Forum opening for Chantel McGregor. Can't really say much more in regards to the set, to last week's comments except that Andrew had a little more time and so was able to add a couple more songs. However, 2 things really shouted out; between songs, Andrew was much more composed and relaxed, like he's shedding the nerves and getting to enjoy himself. And as The Forum is a dedicated performance room and not a stage at the end of a club, the sound carries better and I have to say, Andrew's vocals have leapt; developing to be as potent as his undoubted guitar playing.
Couple this with the prowess of brother Jamie's keyboards and Nick Colman's drums and The Mentulls are ready to break out.

Re: The Mentulls

**New Studio Album Update**

A quick update on the new studio album for you all. The recording at Superfly Studios, UK is going really well and the music is sounding absolutely epic. The band are really pleased to have Wayne Proctor on board as producer who has brought so much of his talent and expertise to the arrangements and recording.

Our ultimate aim is always to produce an album of the highest quality. We are taking time to develop each of the songs and are coming up with fresh ideas to make this the best album we possibly can which obviously takes time.

It is also important to give as much time promoting the album and with this mind the release date will now be in spring 2015.

Everyone is really excited about how it is sounding and we are sure it will be well worth the wait.

There will be further updates and some snippets of the recording coming soon.

Thanks for your continued support and see you on the road.
