Topic: Greg Koch, Roscoe Beck and Tom Brechtlein a day of Musical Mayhem...

Well Gang,

As I said above, this past Saturday was something special to see and hear. First, at Cascio Interstate Music in New Berlin where Joe has held clinics, Greg Koch, Roscoe Beck and Tom Brechtlein put on an almost two hour clinic by first playing a few diddys, then each in detail describing some of the things they do to coax the magic out of their instruments. This was followed by a question and answer session. Amazing to say the least! smile

Then, later that night, the same trio put on a fabulous show as a fundraiser for the Tosa East Friends of Theater Arts at Wauwatosa East High School. As Joe said last time he was in Milwaukee and had Greg up on stage with him, not only is Greg one of the finest guitar players around, but truly a great guy. Greg has helped many times in his community when people call upon him and this is just one example. Believe it or not, both Roscoe and Tom and just arrived from their homes in Texas and California respectively to lend Greg a hand, so what you will see here is a band that hasn't played together for quite a while.

Back in the '90's Roscoe & Tom were known as The Blue Line backing Robben Ford in the studio and on the road. Roscoe's pretty versatile, I've heard him when he'd sit in with a friends Latin Jazz band on Sunday afternoons @ a local restaraunt.

Both Roscoe and Tom mentioned their work with Robben Ford at the clinic that was held during the day.  Very insightful stuff!

Here's another one from Saturday night's show, but instead of Tom Brechtlein on drums, we have Greg's son Dylan Koch. For a number of yeas now I've said that Dylan is one of the finest young drummers in our area. Considering that he's only 17 years old and a junior in High School, I think you'll see what I mean in this video...

Thanks Rick! I consider that quite a compliment coming from "Mr. Video" himself. smile The day clinic I had my tripod, but the show at night I held the camera.You can tell I'm holding it when, at about the three minute mark of "Spanish Castle Magic", I started choking and had to cough. I told Greg that I must have had a piece of "gristle" caught in my throat. I believe the Gristleman thought that was funny. wink
