Topic: '11 Fave Songs

Lately I've found myself coming back to individual songs rather than the whole enchilada of an album.  A few that keep poppin' up are:

"Ballad of a Southern Man" - Whiskey Myers.  I sing along to this one at the top of my voice and the lyrics are so, so true - especially if you're from the south.

"So Many Times" - J.P. Soars.  I sing along to this one even louder.  J.P. has captured lightin' in a bottle with this song - one of the best blues songs I've ever heard.

"You and Tequila" - Kenny Chesney & Grace Potter.  Definitely the best song both have recorded.  How this wasn't voted CMA song of the year baffles me.  Grace Potter is a rising star of the first order and I'd love to hear her do a country album.

Yes, I did mean songs from this year, but what the hay.  That's a mighty fine list you posted and I love the variety - "Chrystal Ship" and EW&F!  We must be kindred spirits.
Recently I bought two albums that have exceptional songs that could be added:
Leroy Powell & the Messengers' The Snowblind Moonshine Deathride and the song "Lovin' Machine".  For those that like their rock loud and don't mind turning the neighbors on to it too.
Chris Thomas King - Antebellum Postcards and the songs "Rehab" and "Sketches of Treme".  I've also been listenin' to his unique KKKrossroads which marrys hip hop and the blues.  Here's a very interesting piece about Chris and the future of the blues.  There's also a snippet of his version of Robert Johnson....
