What an honor..   Both John and Jordan are my friends and are seriously with their band Dream Theater put on the greatest display of musicianship I have ever seen in my life.  I saw them 2 weeks ago in Phoenix ... Just awesome all the way around..   !!  But wow....  so cool of them to say that.

Probably wasn't read before moving.

However, since it has been moved I'll add this link about Dream Theater. Very interesting (and entertaining) 3-video series that chronicles the band's search for Portnoy's replacement and the audition process.

I can't say how much it warms my heart to see two of my favorite acts mutually respect each other!

Stu, ya think?........ couldn't be, noone makes assumptions here.

anyway thanks for the link, I really never knew much about Dream Theater until learning about them from Kevin Shirley's diary. I will tell you what though I have had just as many people talk to me about Joe because of the Derek connection than anything. As much as I talk about Joe rockin more and metal and such here, I am not that immersed in it my other daily life discussions. I have found it interesting though the aquaintences of mine that commented on a Joe or BCC shirt I have had on or song I have had on because they learned about him because of BCC because of the DT connection. From that Metal Show too. Joe's music stands out in just about any field.

I actually first heard of Joe from listening to alot of Prog,Jazz and Metal. His name was always popping up when discussing great guitar players so I had to check him out [glad I did]. His covers of Heart Of The Sunrise and Starship Trooper blew my mind. The rest is Bona-history!!!!  Joe's solo work and BCC has gotten me back into the Blues and Rock, really all styles of music. The man is aces!!!!

The video series where they search for the new drummer is interesting. It seems kind of put on. But that's just my opinion.
As for the latest DT album I just can't listen to it. Their musicianship is good but there's no real highlights. It seems 'simple' for DT and as for the lyrics? Dribble. They need to come back with something more epic and hard-hitting next time.

I *thought* that was you!  cool

That theater at Mesa Arts Center where they played is just a couple hundred seats larger than the Orpheum, but I think the acoustics in there are a few steps up from the Orpheum.  Hopefully Danny Zelisko will put you in there for three or four shows next tour.  wink

Hey Bearlaz, where does a guy like Joe watch a DT show? Was he in the crowd, or backstage, or what?

The guy that I thought was Joe was in the crowd beforehand.  I didn't see where he was seated, because I wasn't sure it was Joe (I didn't think he'd already be in Phoenix the night before his show), and I didn't want to be a stalker and follow him in case it was.  smile
