Topic: Savoy Brown

There is a very informative interview with Kim Simmonds in Blues Matters 63 to coincide with the release of their 32nd album "Voodoo Moon". Looks like they will tour Europe in April/May. I'm hoping for some UK gigs cos I haven't seen this band (who have had numerous line-ups) since 1973!! Any American buddies seen them lately?

Time to bring out my vinyl albums - Hellbound Train first methinks.

Re: Savoy Brown

Kim Simmonds was here this summer....A+++++ performance & one of the best pro-musicians still touring today.

He played a few new songs from Voodoo Moon which is a great CD..The best thing about Kim is he still plays his butt off today.

Re: Savoy Brown

Savoy Brown! One of the most underrated and overlooked UK blues/rock groups of the late 60s/early 70s...I always liked Kim Simmond's playing, 'Getting To The Point' was a great record smile

Re: Savoy Brown

I can still remember in the 70's-my paper route days....hearing the album "Looking In" at this one home...

Reflecting back on those days, I can see why I got hooked on the Blues.

I'm a faithful Savoy Brown fan still to this day....Kim Simmonds should be in the ROLLING STONES"S top 20!!!

I stll own all of the Vinyl Albums...and eventually had to get the CD's for convience sake.

P/s the OLD VINYL still sounds great...especially the vocals...you can't get that on a CD.

Re: Savoy Brown

Nice! I wish I could say I remembered them in the 70s....but being 19 I can't big_smile I agree with you on the vinyl thing, I'm a vinyl collector mysrlf and there's just something more special about hearing those classic albums crackling away on a turntable smile

Re: Savoy Brown

If you get a chance to see Kim and Savoy, DO NOT pass it up....they are as tight as I have seen them in 20 years....Kim is still killing it all night....he should be ranked in the top 10 of any guitarist list....period.  He has been so damn influential and he actually plays the axe like a mad man....some of the guys getting accolades these days are getting it on reputation alone...Kim should be getting it on reputation AND what he is currently doing....can you say Eric Clapton....but not too many people know Kim Simmonds...their loss
