Re: The Last Post

Been a lot of water under the bridge around here. People come and go for a variety of reasons some stated and some not. Always liked your posts even when you were cranky.   wink Always welcome back.

Re: The Last Post

It's pretty much always been that way Geoff, and it always will be. It just comes with the territory, so to speak. This isn't a generic, independently hosted guitarist forum where people talk about what they like and don't like about various artists. This is Joe's forum, hosted on Joe's site, and moderated by Joe's appointed people. Given that dynamic, it would only make sense that the content you find here is going to reflect that.

Yes there are some members of this forum who are too quick to take issue with anything but pro-Joe comments, regardless of the content of the posts, or how well-reasoned they might be. That whole "Joe can do no wrong" vibe here has driven off lots of folks over the years.

Truth to be told Geoff, I was guilty of this myself in the old days - both before and during my time as moderator of Joe's original forum. I viewed this place as a marketing and promotional tool first, and as a platform for discussion second.

But I would ask you, how does one maintain balance?

Everyone is entitled to their own opinions. Not everyone is crazy about every song (or every record) that Joe has released. But is it the responsibility of Joe and his management to provide a forum for us to discuss what we don't like about him? I think not. Nor can we expect to be granted the freedom to post a critical review of a show or a record, and then not grant someone else the same freedom to post a reply in opposition to our views, right? It's a tough balancing act for sure.

I hear what you're saying though. One can only read so many "What's your favorite Joe song?" type of threads before it gets a little mundane and uninteresting.

But again, this is what it is; Joe's house, full of Joe's people. When you keep that in mind during your interactions here, it gets easier to understand and tolerate the apparent lack of balance that can become a bit nauseating at times.

I've enjoyed your contributions here and wish you well.

I find myself 'lurking' a lot more these days and less able to join in. Thats fine too I guess. The 'Wet Jacket' type of thread is a reason for not checking out 'General' too much these days.

I'm with you…I like the Gear section myself.

Geoff - Put me down as another who appreciated your wit and insight.  Stu's words eloquently sum up the situation and I hope you'll change your mind like I did.  We can't keep losing people like you and Shreddy.  Damn!
