I drive in Europe a lot- just come back from Barcelona with the top down all the way to Clermont (900kms)
In the UK, more than you'd think- I have an Audi TT Mk 2 Roadster 3.2 at the mo and had the top off today around London (66 degrees in your old money.)
Re fuel- 911 will do 30mpg all day long at a steady 85mph. The Audi is SHOCKING- 24 mpg at the same, and to comapre my old CLK55AMG, that did more from a 5.5 V8 than the 3.2 Audi. The really big difference is in Germany on the unrestricted autobahns, where the Porker will do 25mpg @ 120mph and 18mpg at 150mph, the Audi will do 16mpg and 9mpg respectively!
Loving the E350's though. The diesel makes a lot of sense in Europe with gas at $10 a gallon. I considered the CLK 320D which is rapid and frugal, but it aint a Porsche. I also have a 09 diesel Freelander 2 which does 38 mpg for gear lugging and dog carrying.....so that's great.
