wow, I missed that Rick, it's always best to read through the whole article. He was inducted for "early influence"?? kind of a backhanded pat on the back. Also inducted and very much worthy, a legendary recording engineer and producer:

Never heard of him before. Wow, impressive resume. Yeah, they were hidden in the fine print as they say. An afterthought maybe but well deserved for sure. So many worthies are passed over it's nice to see a legend make it.

Never heard of him??? I'd have voted him in just on his work with the Glimmer Twins!!!

Unbelievable.  Their volume of work could have been more substancial, however there's no question the cult following they've deserved.  Probably Canada's greatest band.

Yes, Curby couldn't curb the sarcasm after hearing Donovan got the invite over the three Canooks.  The HoF is fast becoming a joke to fans.

Congrats to Donovan and The Faces, very worthy imo. The rest, well....is what it is. At least they passed on Joan Jett, Heart, and The Cure. maybe next year will be Rush's chance, more like fat chance it ain't happening.

Can you please share why you think Donovan is worthy of the Hall of Fame, and you think Heart is not?

I can say 1 thing that makes Heart worthy and that is Ann Wilson alone.  She is one of Rock's best all-time female vocalist.  Her dynamics in her singing alone, should melt the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

it's just an opinion Cat, you know what they say about those. I am fairly old, I grew up with Donovan, did not grow up with Heart. Since RORHF is a joke anyway, maybe they did the non-inductees a favor. Once you are in, nobody talks about you any more. If you are out, your name comes up for discussion again next year. I could amend my post and delete the words "at least", that was a little nasty on my part. They passed on others as well. I will never deny that Ann has a great voice, but to me they were just another top 40 80's band with some catchy tunes, many of which I liked at that time and now find I abhor. Overexposure ?, too much air time on mainstream rock stations ? yeah, all of that. And the crowning blow, what is/was their lead guitarist's name? I cannot tell you who he is, and don't remember him ever mentioned even once on this forum.

I did find where Howard Leese is mentioned in several posts as concerns Paul Rodgers and band. my apologies, if he's good enough to stick with Paul for any length of time then he must be pretty talented.

HER name is Nancy Wilson, sister of Ann.  And pretty good she is too.  smile

Marty, was she the one that contributed all of that crunchy rythym and searing leads on the main hits like Barracuda? I knew that she played some acoustic guitar, but always thought that was someone else on other parts, Howard to be specific. Have I got that all wrong?

I don't know about on the studio version of that record, but she certainly plays those parts live.

Heart rocked pretty damn hard in their heyday. The roots of the original band date back to the 60s but the Wilson sisters didn't join until the early 70s. Roger Fisher actually was the lead guitar from their beginning up to and through the release of Dog and Butterfly...and he was great.

You have a good point in that you do get talked about more if you don't make it.

Your post is fine smile  I was just wondering, to be truthful.  Maybe you could enlighten me about Donovan?
Why is he Hall of Fame material in your opinion?  I really don't even get why some people are even nominated
when the obvious ones can't get in.

And you are not fairly old.  Your Bonamassa Young!  That's Angus' brother wink

When I saw Bad Company, Howard Leese was playing with them and Mick Ralphs really seemed very happy to have him there with him.  That made me happy.  Mick has some health issues so maybe that helps him out.
One thing about Howard with Paul Rodgers is Paul has a wide range of material.  Howard seems to be able to transition well with the varied material and they live in the same vicinity of each other.

If I could, I would Graffiti Paul Rodgers, Free, Bad Company, and The Firms name all over the Rock N Roll hall of Fame. I'll get you in the Hall of Fame Paul one way or another big_smile

I will later make a thread about Heart.  A band that inspires me.
