Topic: A glimpse of the future? Whadaya think Joe?

Ventured out to the Flowerpot in Derby last night - one of the small venues that Joe made such an impression at on his first UK tour. (Remember that Joe?)

We were there to see Virgil & the Accelerators - the hottest young power trio on the UK Blues Rock scene, whose debut album "The Radium" sees it's official release tomorrow 26th September.

Virgil and the guys were awsome, and feature on another thread, so I want to tell you about the even younger support band, The Mentulls, featuring 15 year old Andrew Pipe on guitar. They only had a short set, but what was apparent straight away was that this young fella has great tone and technique, and is heavily influenced by one Joe Bonamassa.
Not surprisingly then, their set list featured a little Joe Mojo, and after an early airing of "So It's Like That", and a few originals, they finished up with this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dlsyQw2j … e=youtu.be

The band is completed by 16 year old Nick Colman on drums, and Jamie Pipe (19) on Keyboards.

Early days yet I know - Andrew's still four years younger than Virgil, who kindly invited Andrew up to jam with the Accelerators later on, and believe me that was just amazing. Watching these two young guns trading licks like a couple of old pros was the highlight of the evening. Brought the house down  cool .

Please be in no doubt that this is the REAL ME! Beware imposters........................

Seen these "young guns" a few times Ian, and they really are something special. They've had a lot of support from Guisborough's R'n'B club, Ralph and Kathy have done well nurturing this young talent.

Last I saw them, Andrew was doing a blazing jam with Sherman Robertson who was so impressed he wants to get them over to the States sometime. Missed them jamming with Chantel McGregor earlier in the year and when they opened for Virgil back in the Spring, unfortunately there was time to fit one in, so I guess he's made up for that. Andrew's also done a jam with Ian Parker & Chris Eaton. Think next March there's a certain Mr. A. Lister going to get a surprise at Ripley. Seen a full set, and there's Joe B covers, good run through Hendrix' Red House usually, and couple Gary Moore's and original stuff which is not bad at all. Did you get their album?

Andrew (and the band) have a good mature attitude too; at the Sherman gig, his amp was playing up and needed adjusting between songs through the set. He just got on with what he had to do - after 4 songs I think I'd have beaten it to death with a mike stand. Eventually it sorted itself out (by tipping on it's back), but the show went on in great style.

Definitely a young talent to watch out for.

Similar age, you might want to look out for a lad from Glossop, Alex McCowan - did a v.good jam with Hamilton Loomis in Sheffield.
