Re: VATA Tour

Thank you George and Blues Sissi's friend for the great videos.  I have been needing a Virgil fix.

After the gig we talked and talked and talked and then when only a few people were at the bar the band started playing another set. lol  And now the volume was good. What an incredible encore: a beautiful version of "Little Wings", on special request an amazing version of "Sweet Home Alabama". Then Virgil asked whether someone would like to jam with him. Very very unfortunately there was no musician in the crowd. Then a last song and it was 1:30 am when the band stopped playing. High time to say good night and drive home.

Martin, it was great meeting you and the guys. All the best for the rest of the tour.

That must have been my white-haired friend, Walter. wink

I heard about this jam, which was extremely unusual. I think Martin said he couldn't remember when Virgil had last felt like playing more after the show was over.

There was unfortunately also only a very small crowd at the Cave, but the few who were there certainly enjoyed themselves. I may have to call Bibi and see if I can tag along to the other show. tongue

Gee whiz. Great band, small club, impromptu return because the band felt it. I live in the wrong hemisphere. hmm (yeah, I know, we get the spud) I miss stuff like this. We have nothing like it within 100 miles. Color me green. Great links that impart the feel. Thanks!

Re: VATA Tour

Hi folks,
Great first 2 shows. Small turnouts but that is too be expected for the first time. Blues Sissi (it was lobely to meet meet and the band were amzes how far you had driven) is being kind about the first gig being loud, it was way too loud. This is going to be a problem with this band is small venues. They are extremelly powerfull and it is near impossible to tame. Next time we will do things slightly differently.
That said, eveyine praised the guys and had a great time. They did an encore and then had somethimg to eat, a beer and a local cigerate. After that Virgil memtiined he felt like jamming, so out they went for an impromptu jam. Really was very special for the lucky few still in the bar.
The gig at the Cave in Amsterdam, smaller stage and I was worried about the sound again. We only had the vocals through the PA and it was loud and powerful but more manageable than the first night. Again everyone loved it.
Yesterday we had a day off in Amsterdam (sent you a text george). I guess the politicaly correct thing to say is that we had a lovely day sightseeing. The truth is we had a very hazy day! (when in rome), then blew the tour budget on munchies!   The Dam is a fine city and totally buzzing. You are  getting an essay off me as I am wide awake, with the band still snoring away. Finding the bathroom in the early hours was rather interesting. Apologies for anyone teeing off on the 17th this morning! We got a bargain room in a posh golf club but look rather out of place amongst the sea green slacks and cerise pink piquet shirts. Next gig Appledoorn, be there or be one of the many in 10 years time who will claim to have been there. Radio tonight.

Yes, George it was Walter. And it was nice meeting him.

Shame that there are not so many people at the concerts but that's the way it is at a first tour.
Next time the guys will play these places again there will be more people. I'm very sure about that.

Goerge, if you're going to another gig, don't forget to offer the guys a local cigarette wink
I'm afraid I can't make it to one of the other gigs, they are too far away during the week.

When I was at the Zeche Bochum on Saturday, I wished that Virgil & The Accelerators could play a place like that with such an excellent sound system. But even with the far too loud sound it was pretty good. That's the way it is in the bars. You only have to pay 5 Euros for your ticket and you can expect a good band but not always good sound. As soon as the band will be booked by the small blues clubs sound gets better.

Martin, it's good to hear that you had a great time in Amsterdam. I had no idea that there are greens in Amsterdam. I know of the coffee shops, the canals and the tulips not to forget the one million bicycles ... but golfers in Amsterdam!
I wish you and the guys lots of fun and success for the rest of the tour.

Bibi, George & André: enjoy the concert in Appledoorn.
Bibi, could you do me a favour and buy me a signed CD. It's not that much to increase the tour budget but maybe enough that the band can order some "Kibbeling" at their next sightseeing.
