I am nom player wouldn't a plexi shield help? Means you can play at a decent volume, without flattening your audience. The band I manage use them to great effect.

i would like to stay away from attenuater but..... it might be something i'll end up needing

ya shields and attenuators have their place, I can get a good live sound without being to loud for most situations....I am thinking more about not driving my wife out of her head when I practice lol

cool, i already bought the amp though a mesa boogie ta-30, i was moving on to effects in the post. maybe i should start a new one instead of a continuation?

Not necessary, really.  Gear-heads' threads always turn out this way...    wink

Seriously, I knew you had already purchased an amp, but someone earlier had mentioned the AC15 and I thought it was worth passing along that there was now a 2x12 version, in case other interested readers of the thread could use the info...

Now, don't get me started on what pedals you should try...    big_smile

Re: low wattage amp advice

I see but as I understand it the difference in volume between low wattage Amps and hi wattage amps is not that great, you just get more headroom. Some low wattage amps we hae, really scream.  The only way I have around your problem is soundproofing! Keeps the neighbours happy, just....

Hey i'll take some soundproofing advice I play downstairs from the living room in a 15x20  (panneled) or so room. whatever i do down there is heard very clearly upstairs. there is a door and i do close it but does very little it seams.

Re: low wattage amp advice

$700 gets you a Blackstar 40watt tube combo, that has a voicing knob that can range from Marshall->Fender or blended. Has reverb too and sounds great. 1x12 combo. I played through one for hours at a friend's house and was quite impressed. An amp like this you can play anywhere.

Ask me about my handwound Great Lakes Guitar Pickups
Since 2010, Bonamassa fans have taken advantage of my JB friend discount = my cost + shipping. cool

sounds good I didn't get a chance to play a blackstar before buying the mesa boogie. BTW I special ordered the mesa boogie so i could have a new in the box one..... found out yesterday I got a demo anyway. supposedly guitar center is ordering one straight from the factory this time. I really should order it from sweetwater and let gc screw themselves .. i mean they straight out lied when i picked up the amp saying they unboxed it for me and tried it out, in truth it didn't come in original box or have the stuff that comes with the amp...... bs anyway   carry on..
