Now that explains why the new H&K Tubemeister 18 has only *one* plug for both 8 and 16 ohm cabs. I wondered about that.

I have an H&K 25th Anniversary Combo (their own Silver Jubilee model although very different to the Marshall ones!) and that also specifies that an 8 or 16 ohm cab can be connect ..again without a switch on the amp.
