You must have read my mind or something! Im a letter carrier in the Sacramento area, I see people all day, I am always pimpin Joe when out on the street delivering the mail. Today as a matter of fact I go into this burger place on the way to my route. This man walks in, he's wearing this faded " Hendrix" shirt. I grab a napkin, write Joe's name on it as Im eating. He gets a "to go '' order ,walks towards me on the way out, I say I loved " Hendrix" wish I could have seen him. He smiles and comments "me too". I say I enjoyed seing Stevie playing his music, I reach in my pocket, pull out the napkin. "If you got a computer check out this guy." He looks at it and says "Joe Bona, ahh bonea", so I save him. It's always the same isnt it? If there is one thing I'vd learned, its the way I compare Joe to other guitar players. My wife says," not everyone thinks like you", so I say " In my opinion he is the greatest rock and blues guitarist to come along in years." When I put him in the same sentence with the all time greats, I get the look or comment " Yeah, well those are big shoes to fill." I gave the guy a smile and say you can trust me, " Im the mailman".
He laughed and said he'd check him out!
Good job Shredit! I think that Joe's name does make it hard for people to remember if it's not written. Hopefully some sort of card we can pass out is in the making. I do feel that if you're going to become Bonamassasized it only takes 1 exposure. There are times when I give away a burned cd in order to get that exposure. I know they'll buy the rest! AND, they'll have to have the dvds!!!
Though not a Street Team member I like to think I do my bit ..... I was talking to one of the guys where I work and it turned out both he and I like the same kind of music. He's a big Hendrix fan so I suggested he listened to my copy of ANDY live, which I just happened to have in the car. Next thing, he tells me he's been on to the website, checked out Joe's CDs and bought a couple of them as he was sooo impressed.
There's a local guitarist who I'm always nagging to listen to Joe - tells me he's been listening to 'your friend, Mr Bonamassa' (if only!), thinks he's amazing and has now got all his CDs and Rockpalast DVD.
Now that spring seems to have sprung in the UK over the weekend I've been playing Joe in the car driving around with the windows down, sunroof open and if people look my way I smile and point to the CD unit and say "Joe Bonamassa - remember the name". (It's OK, I'm usually perfectly sane .......
When the rumoured re-visit to my home town comes around in October, there'll be no stopping me!
As usual, Joe's on heavy rotation at the guitar store and I introduced him to our new (very young) guitar teacher who'll be instructing the kids on all things 'guitar' every weekend. He was blown away by Joe so I expect to see some very heavily inluenced JB style kids in the near future
I'm not an official street teamer but my husband and I push all the bands we love as often as possible.
The other day he burned a copy of a show he downloaded and passed it along to a coworker's son who plays in an (unfortunately) punkish/rock band. Suffice it to say, he is hopefully going to move into the blues direction. He was greatly impressed!
You all say you're not street team but you are!!Literally every time you're blaring Joe in your car!! That's why we need bumperstickers. Just point!! I try to target 20yos at the gas pump! Got 2 at the coffe shop today!! And I agree. It is important to also support good, local music! Joe people are GOOD people!!!!

Your funny! Ive done the same thing, I hit em with " Your Funeral and My Trial" and I crank it. One kid about 30 (sorry Joe, Im a little older) says "oh thats the good stuff".
Hi, I may be ancient but only recently been turned on to Joe. Since then I've blown away my friends with the DVD of Joe at the Rockpalast. Now he has 6 new converts on the Greek island of Kefalonia and I'm sure there'll be more... Having worked for Yes many moons ago, it was so good to hear his version of Heart of the Sunrise and Starship Trooper - almost better than the original!!! What a guy.
Greetings my fellow ancient. Isn't it wonderful to find a young player that moves you so much!! The thrill's NOT gone! I think age gives you the knowledge that he is special. You must have the DVD to A New Day Yesterday. It includes a "behind the music" kind of bit that show Joe playing w/B.B.King at the age of 12. AND this is my favorite Joe project. But there are no bad Joe cd/dvds!!
I tell all of my guitar students about Joe. I'll play a cut or two from one of his CDs, for them. Usually, they're digging it immediately.
A guy I know who plays guitar, and wants to give lessons as a career, had heard of joe but never heard any of his stuff. I turned him on to joes music and now he is planning to go to joes concert in may. A new convert who will be spreadin the word
Well,I did something good (and my boyfriend) this weekend for Joe.
My boyfriend also plays guitar and he and his friends (band) have this place where you can rent a studio to pratice/record your music etc.
the owner rebuild this place last year and also has a nice podium with it now.
The already had some bands played there. My boyfriend heard them play a song from an cd by Joe and told them that he'd seen Joe played a couple times and that his girl was a hughe fan (me). The owner told him he wanted to invite Joe to play there. I mailed the guy about the fact that Joe was coming to Holland in July, the 8th and that he should book him around that time ( that place happend to be near my home ) Hope that they will succeed to get Joe. I did my best in my mail. Praised him a lot in it.
Good work Marianne,
Where is that place, I surely come if I can!
Andre Wittebroek.
Hi, Andre it's in Ridderkerk.
Between Rotterdam en Dordrecht.
Respect to all of you across the pond who have made Joe's tour successful!! You are true fans!!!!
Just had to register to inform that I am working to get Joe known up here in Western Canada...
And say I'm glad to be a part of the JB Forums!
Last year's tour of the UK must have been a seminal moment for Joe, Mark and Bogie. It clearly was for the new fans! Joe's popularity in the UK has escalated way beyond their wildest dreams. Shepherds Bush is all but sold out - 2000 capacity. No 1 gig to be at in London this spring! We in the streat team are here in the UK just chomping at the bit to let loose on promoting any gigs later this year in the UK. As soon as London is out of the way, can we have some confirmed dates for us to get working on. Could be a good idea to keep some spaces in there for larger venues later in the tour if Joe and the boys have the energy.
Can't wait!
Geoff
