Richard Milhous Dastardly - hero or villain?

When watching Wacky Races or Catch the Pigeon, I always wanted Richard (I can't seem to use the familiar version of his name - it appears to be considered rude...) Dastardly to win or catch the pigeon.  He was clearly the fastest wacky racer as he always managed to get miles ahead or the pack in order to set his dastardly traps.  And he exhibited excellent flying skills and, let's face it, that pigeon was just annoying.  Am I alone in this?  I also always wished Wile E. Coyote would catch that irritatingly smug roadrunner.  Does this make me a bad person? PS; Milhous is his middle name, according to his recently released book, 'How To Be Dastardly'.
