Re: Music in Maryland

Bon Voyage, George, have a great time. Looks like you'll have a blast seeing all those great bands and artists.  cool

If Cathy can take any more squeezes, please give her a hug from me too.  wink

Looking forward to hearing all about your trip and seeing some great pics and vids.

Re: Music in Maryland

Who else is gonna be at the Chesapeake Bay Blues Fest?  I know some of you posted about this previously but it's now buried in pages of other topics.  Can we pick a meet and greet place?  I'd love to say hi.  I'll be there both days.  Bright and early for the Patty Reese combo on Sat, a bit later for Feat and KWS on Sun.  I ran into a couple with Joe B shirts at the Tampa Bay Blues Fest, but they appear to have not been any of you here (NY couple and Ohio? who said they'd be there), how unusual is that?  That IS quite an impressive schedule you've got Geo.  I work across the street from the Grace venue, lots of friends coming.  Try Luckies, on the right, for a pre-show nosh without having to move the car or walk far to the venue.

My first visit to Maryland.....without a Joe show, will take place from May 17 - June 7. But, I'm totally gobsmacked at the number of bands we'll be seeing at one concert and two festivals during my three week stay, so that in some small way makes up for no Joe!

First and really pretty much foremost, I will finally, at long last, after much yearning and drooling, get to see Grace in Balmer!!  tongue   cool

I have a pretty good idea of what to expect thanks to youtube and thanks to the many friends here who have posted pics, vids, and remarks. I am SO up for this. I wonder what Cathy will make of Grace since she's normally not really into female performers, and will have to get us there early enough for me to be very near the front of the line for this standing venue. I'll be posting impressions, pics and films here as my visit progresses, and I welcome comments on any of the performers below that I haven't seen yet..

Artists I have seen before and who I am very much looking forward to seeing again -

Little Feat
Dana Fuchs
Davy Knowles
Joanne Shaw Taylor
Matt Schofield
John Mayall
Devon Allman

First timers -

Grace
Otis Taylor
Bobby Parker
Ana Popovic
KWS
Ronnie Baker Brooks
Shemekia Copeland
Hamilton Loomis

edit - I made an awful booboo  sad  We are, of course, seeing Grace in Balmer and not in D.C. as I originally wrote.

Sent you mail, Cheri - (still George here  roll  )

Didn't get anything like as much sleep on the plane as I hoped to considering the amount of alcohol and drugs I had taken to knock myself out...a poxy old 757-200 with a screen five rows away from me so I couldn't enjoy the films (no choice, of course) - the several music channels on offer were a disappointment too. I can't believe that a major US airline would use such an old plane on a transatlantic route. Anyway, I'm shattered. Night all.

Hey George - I fly transatlantic a lot.....alcohol and drugs to 'sleep' never work in-flight, believe me..... wink  after you land, try melatonin to normalize sleep patterns. Believe me, it works.....

I believe the 757-200 part though...these days airlines will do anything to make a fast buck. Welcome to Bal'more, and enjoy the blues festival. If you need help parking there, let me know...I have friends at MSP and MdTA Police who will be there for the event.... lol

And if you guys do have a free moment, please email me, I'd love to meet yourself, Cathy and Jane and Don/Jocelyn and others somewhere Sat or Sun evening, or any other evening (or even for lunch, I work near Arundel Mills - Cathy/Jane would know) if you can spare some time. Enjoy your time here!!! Manoj
