Topic: Nuno Bettencount On Idol last night ...playing for Rihanna

Last night on American idol...Guest singer Rihanna was on stage..I was pretty well bored until the guitar solo...
It was none other than Nuno Bettencourt..ex Extreme guitar shredder..........wow I was shocked he was playing with her..
He can still rock out with his signature  Nuno Washburn guitar.....:)

And so castles made of sand melts into the sea, eventually.........

I read an interview with him a while back when he mentioned he had been approached to play with her band.

He was pretty sceptical about doing it until someone told him she was the real deal and could rock. Don't know if that it is the case but him playing with her probably provides some credibility to that end.

Maybe it is a win-win. She gets plenty of exposure and so will he. Nice to know he still has the chops.

He played with her last year on AI as well.  Nuno can still rock it out!  But as a side note: it's Vito Bratta formerly of White Lion that needs to come out of retirement.  His TONE and technique were class leading back in the glorious hair metal days.  Vito!

this thread has to be a great reply to my thread about the guitarists being dead (or having seen their day), - great to hear that a guitarists as good as Nuno can cross over to what is at the moment main stream popular music.

The real music was Zakk with James.  Now they made a great pair with the right style of music.  James can really sing and with better vocal coaching than AI he can really develop into more. Nuno's great too.

What so funny about AI, is they have these popular girl singers, Rhianna, next week Katy, who if they were at the AI auditions wouldn't even make it into the top 24.  Now if it was a porn star audition, they would fit right in but they would have to fight gaga for the top spot.  Rhianna can barely carry a note and is flatter than a pancake.  But that was sells today, mediocre talent and dance music.  What would they do without autotune?
