Re: 2024 Major League Baseball season
granted it was the hapless Marlins, the Braves put up 11 runs on a season high 16 hits last night, and not one of them was a home run. shocking!

OK, I have officially had it up to here with ESPN. They were actually promoting Puig yesterday as the extra NL choice in the final voting, saying on their site that he deserves to be there. They may have taken that down now. That is a real no-no in my book, same if they were trying to promote one of the other candidates. I have voted over and over again for Freddie Freeman, I truly believe he is the most deserving. I don't have a problem with Ian Desmond making it, nor Gonzalez. Pence and Puig do not fit, especially Puig with only 5 or 6 weeks in the books. It really has degenerated into a popularity contest, but what ESPN did was way out of bounds, FOUL!
Yeah, that sux when sports media gets in there. He's a great player so far but too new to know how he'll stick. Pitchers figure it out and suddenly he becomes ordinary. Pads have had the injury list finally take hold. No end in sight to the tailspin. The break will be good.

don't want to beat the dead horse on this Puig all star thing, but found something worth noting. His teammate Hanley Ramirez has played in exactly the same number of games this year with very similar statistics. Both are batting over .400, although Puig has 26 more at bats than Ramirez. But Puig has struck out more than twice as many times than Hanley. Ramirez is higher in slugging percentage. Why isn't Hanley on the final ballot? How can Puig get there with only 6 weeks under his belt? easy, MEDIA HYPE
Found another interesting statistic, there are only 2 players that have hit a walkoff homer when their team was down one run or more to get them to the postseason. That would be Bobby Thompson in 1951 and Freddie Freeman did it just last year. #VOTE FREDDIE. We would appreciate any extra votes, I have voted over 300 times and it still hasn't cut me off. So this last vote is a real whorefest.
with suspensions coming quickly, this is kind of funny. Everybody in Atlanta knows this guy was crazy as a run over dog, way off his rocker. Hey George, I see where Gio made the list.

after all that with the extra voting, Freddie Freeman will not have a chance to play in the allstar game. All it took was one errant throw to first by Chris Johnson and it pulled Freddie off the bag where he had to do a swipe tag. Boom, injured thumb. Thanks a lot Chris. So now they take Brian McCann who has been hitting lights out.
Did you see that play that Hunter Pence made in the 8th for Timmy? Wow, that's as close as it gets to losing one. Congrats to Timmy, he was throwing some real nasty stuff.

I heard his comments on radio. I will say that baseball brought the steroid era on itself and looked the other way for a long time. He IS off his rocker...
My new favorite...

He would be off his Rocker if he wasn't kidding. But he is! He plays the fame and attention game as an uncomfortable yoke, therefore a joke(r) can make the game (chatter) a little more interesting and a lot less predicictable. And guess what, guess who ends up on the punch line? Sure him, but not always, and sometimes he is throwing the most subtle but damaging bean balls that daze so much one doesn't even know they have a free base coming...
Rocker ON & Bleep the Faith,
Rocket
I never said I was a fan though....
this was done as a comedy piece for Evan Gattis of the Braves, pretty funny. How many MLB players have their own music video? It's good to have him back in the lineup.

new eats for Braves fans, $8 for loaded hashbrowns is not all that bad. Turner is also getting an H & F burger stand, reported to be the best burger in Atlanta.

I like this in Pittsburgh too.

Fun Fun Game at the Coliseum this afternoon.
Even though it was sloppy, it sure was a fun game to watch cause the A's ended up winning.
The Sun just totally wiped out the Angels centerfielder. The ball totally disappeared on him even though he had sunglasses on. Talk about a home field advantage, the Sun today totally threw the Angels outfield off. Plus they had the Cool Yellow Jerseys on!
"Nerd Power" is alive and well with Eric Sogard hitting a line drive up the middle.
Woo Hoo! 0-0
Totally fun game to watch today! You A's fans in the Stands Rock! The fans have such a connection to this team and the team feels the same way about the fans
A slim ray of sunshine for the decimated Padres' pitching staff. Young Tyson Ross who was in Peoria at season's start, pitched 8 innings of shutout ball against the Diamondbacks' all star Corbin for a win 1-0. His hard slider and down and away fastball were both nigh un-hitable. Not much going on in the NL West. No one looks likely to go far in the post season. Between injuries and dopers (with more shoes to drop it seems) the talent is showing gaps on all the teams. The dog days of summer are taking thier toll.

Looks like Aroid will take his medicine. The alternative isn't so tasty. How sweet to take the series with the first visit by the Yankees to our park.
Rick
edit. In a tearful and completely the opposite tack of most others accused, the Padres Cabrera apologized to the fans, accepted responsibility and warned other young players to watch who they associate with today. I hope Aroid gets a lifetime ban, and forfeiture of all moneys owed. That should make others take notice.
Braves win streak is now at 12, it's being called "the Waffle House streak" because they have not lost a game since WH opened at Turner. Not all the games have been at home though. It will probably come to an end tonight, we face Jordan Zimmerman at the Nats. Well, they hit Freddie Freeman in the butt last night so we had to retaliate by hitting Bryce Harper. Boy was he pissed, benches emptied but no blows thrown. Bryce was very professional about it after the game, I really like the young man.

Double lazer eye surgery for Dan Uggla according to his li'l sis who I just chatted with Tres. The Bravos are bringin' up a AAA 2nd baseman to fill in till he recovers.
Viva Gigantes!!!
J Dawg
yeah Dawg, he is going to bite the bullet and go ahead with it rather than after the season. We'll be OK until he gets back, as long as Simmons (SS) doesn't get hurt. I hope the astigmatism really is the problem, and not just diminishing skills. I fear the latter is true.

Janey told me he's tried to play with contacts, but they're always a problem, so this was the alternative.
