All I know for sure is that the Senators were always crap, and that since I started paying a bit of serious attention to the sport in recent years, this, right now, is my first ever post-season experience. Every other WS series game I have ever seen has been between teams I don't care about. This is the first time that I have a personal stake.

As a long time fan of two historically under-performing teams, West Ham and the Redskins, I can't tell you how excited I am to see the Nats have a chance at achieving something special over the next couple of weeks. Even if they fail, merely getting there was already a buzz! cool

I didn't mean to bad mouth anyone else's team, I was only pointing out the uniqueness of the Nat's achievement, irrespective of what kind of personal dramas might be going on in other teams. Every one of you posting in this topic has experienced post-season glory - and heartbreak - except me, this is all a first for me! So, in view of last night's first win in St. Louis and the other results, it looks like I'm the only one here right now with any bragging rights at all. tongue

Again, I hope that all those who are uncommitted, or whose teams are already out, will support the Nats - or the O's in the AL - as long as those gd Yankees don't wind up winning. wink

Enjoy the excitement of having your team in the thick of post season GDawg. It doesn't come around often for most of us. Good Luck!

Re: 2024 Major League Baseball season

I am a huge Cardinals fanatic.... I am so pleased with the performance last evening with a big 12-4 win! GO BIRDS!

With that being said, we still have a long ways to go and playing a very young and talented team. I am still nervous and will be biting my nails until the very last pitch. Afterall, it is the playoffs and ANYTHING can happen!

Don't get me wrong, I want the Cardinals to go all the way of course, but I love watching Playoff baseball unfold! big_smile

Cheers!

The A's are scary good! Even Billy Beane showed up today. Down 5-1, they reared their come from behind Bernie-dancin' attitudes and messed with Texas again to steal the West from under their noses! 5 down with 9 to play, that doesn't happen every year sports fans. One of the great collapses.

It sure was a collapse.  13 games behind.  Congratulations to the Yellow and Green.

I am so happy that they won today's game.  I was biting my claws when I first heard the score.
I Am so Excited for all of the Oakland Fans, What A Game! What a Story!

I had to listen to the game on the radio and when Oakland went up by 7 Ken Korach (the A's radio voice) let out a " this is worthy of a HOLY TOLEDO"......I got goose bumps.

He also made a referance to the crowd rockin' like it was a Day On The Green.

Thanks for this.  I watched the game tonight and am just ecstatic in how it turned out.  Had me on the edge of my seat.  It was so great seeing all the yellow towels and all the wonderful A's fans out there standing on there feet.  I am glad they got at least this one at home.

The crowd was really Rockin the place.

I love Ken Korach too and that just makes everything better that he did that.

So for tonights victory, they played Celebration from Kool and the Gang and lit the fireworks like the old days.

This deserves another HOLY TOLEDO!  Bill King would be so thrilled for this young group of guys.
It's been a great season for the guys and the fans smile

That's not the way it works in my world. If your team wins, you've got (temporary) bragging rights, at least until your team loses. I had those rights after the Nats won the first, and lost them after they lost the second. Bragging rights increase in proportion with what your team has won, but to say that you've only got those rights if your team actually 'wins' a prize would disqualify millions of fans from ever having any.

So yes, I've already got some of those rights by virtue of what the Nats accomplished this season, and I will still have those rights no matter what happens during the rest of the play-offs. To suggest that you don't have any such rights at all unless you win the big one is just plain ridiculous. wink

My ESPN is showing all of today's games, though there's no way I'll be up all night to see all of them. Hoping for some serious Natitude in D.C. in around three hours time, especially from Edwin Jackson.....who hopefully will not emulate the poor starts made by Gio and Zimmermann.

That might work during the regular season but not in the playoffs....... At least in my world. Once again to each his own.

Re: 2024 Major League Baseball season

Go Cardinals.... Keep up the offense!!!! Also the Nats and Cards are really getting the shaft on game times! A noon start in STL really gets in the way of a productive day at work on a Wednesday!

Re: 2024 Major League Baseball season

Impressive win today for the Cardinals.  I knew with Carpenter back the magic might return.  If not for that idiot shortstop this could've been a sweep.

Re: 2024 Major League Baseball season

George, there's no reason anyone with a team still in the hunt shouldn't be proud of that accomplishment, but even the players will tell you that it's all meaningless unless you're hoisting a championship trophy at the end.

Re: 2024 Major League Baseball season

Thanks Curby... Apparently the Cardinals like to take the less easy route... Sweep would have been nice to rest a bit. Still gotta win one of next two though.

Let's Go A's!!!! Another unbeliveable walk-off in Oakland last night. These guys don't care about best records, triple crown winners, or a Cy Young pitcher, it all looks like a bone to a junkyard dog! Too bad for all you East coasters that probably went to bed after the NY/BALT game, you missed the best game of the post season.
