Re: Green Bay - March 11, 2011

I must tell you all how great this show was. This show ranks right up there with the Royal Albert Hall show, although different in many ways. At the RAH, all eyes were on Joe and it was his goal to play there from very little on. You almost didn't want to breathe for fear of something going wrong. This show found a group of four guys so relaxed and having fun with each other, that their music just flowed. Honestly, just a wonderful, fun filled performance! cool

Really looking forward even more to tonight, about 5 hours away now... smile

Sorry, I'm a little hyped! wink

Joe's latest interview covered exactly that. He has changed the presentation now to a structured jam format with only the basic element of each song to work on. He said they will mix it up and no two shows will be the same, even though the set list is. He heard our pleas and responded! The new freestyle Joeshow rolls on! Who knows what hijinks are in store? tongue  big_smile

Re: Green Bay - March 11, 2011

Best Joe show I've seen in years!  And the cheeseheads were awesome - along with Just Got Paid Today - wow.  I had my hands on one of the cheeseheads but decided not to fight the guy next to me for it.  There were 13 in our group - many experiencing their first Joe show and of course everyone loved it.  Being in the first row I got great pictures and will have copies made.  Nice surprise seeing Lee and Renee there too!

The show was PHENOMENAL! I managed to catch the cheesehead worn by either Joe or Carmine...couldn't tell which it was since they kind of bounced around a little. A very unlikely souvenir from the concert, but certainly a very memorable one. Gotta give it to these guys for having some fun with the crowd. The newbies that I brought to the show were blown away.

If memory serves, the set list was exactly the same as was posted from the Sioux Falls show.

Did you stick around after the show? You know..."Hey Joe, Can you sign my cheesehead"??? Ha!

I agree - this show was awesome. I have all of Joe's CDs & just picked up Black Country Communion. I have not yet had a chance to listen to it yet. Here's the reason for that.

My wife came to his concert @ the Weidner Center. She had only listened to a little of Joe's music. She was so in awe of his music, guitar playing and singing and his band that we listened to his CD Live From the Royal Albert Hall all the way home - not that that was a bad thing. We have been married for 32 years & she turned up the volume in the car and did so to Warp 9. That has never happened in all of our years together.

I have seen a lot of major guitar players over the years (Eric Clapton. Mark Knopfler, Neil Young, Stephen Stills, Robbie Robertson, Warren Haynes, Derek Trucks, Dickey Betts, Robben Ford, Robert Randolph, Jimmy Thackery, Sonny Landreth, Michael Hill, Chris Duarte) to name a few. Joe is simply the best that I have ever seen in concert.

This was a great show & his band is so talented. Cudos to his new drummer Tal Bergman. He really shined on their version of the Who's Young Man Blues.

Come back to our neck of the woods anytime. If anybody has not yet seen him live, treat yourself & take a friend.

Re: Green Bay - March 11, 2011

There seemed to be a lot of "new" fans in the house in Green Bay, or that was the impression I got.  Just shows Joe's appeal is growing.

Just a fantastic show in Milwaukee for which I was lucky enough to get last minute tickets.  If any fellow fans can help, my favorite song was the extended acoustic guitar solo that Joe did without his band toward the end of the show-- does anyone know its name or if a copy of it exists anywhere?

"Woke Up Dreaming" is the song. Originally on Joe's "Blues Deluxe" studio CD, but not in the extended format he plays in concert. Extended versions similar to his current concert version can be heard on "Live From Nowhere In Particular" or "Live From The Royal Albert Hall". I would recommend the DVD of the latter.

Woke Up Dreaming. A YouTube search should give you hundreds, if not thousands of results.

hi Roy
How early did you get to the meet and greet and how crowded was it? I have a new Gibson les pau,l 7 days old, that I had made at the custom shop that I am having Joe sign at a meet and greet in Worcester Ma.

Hi Ron,

Joe is very punctual not only for his shows, but also at the meet and greet too. It was scheduled for 4:30, but I was advised to get there by 4:00. Joe came right out at 4:30. He takes time with everyone to sign what they brought and to take a photo too, so make sure you bring your camera. cool  We had between 20 and 30 people at the meet and greet.
