Re: Reading 3-23

Folks - This has been a great thread and experience so far.......but just to sum up....since I'm back down from geosynchronous orbit to earth, until I hop the pond to Zurich Volkshaus... wink

Paul - thanks for 'the thanks' with the tickets - it was nothing really....I'm used to what I call 'the ticketmaster scam'.... big_smile It was great meeting up with you and Eileen....and buddy, thanks for saving my hide with the photos due to my 'self-proclaimed' camera mistake, which I will also remember for a lifetime...sheesh!!!!

Jane, Rick, Cathy, Angela, George - thank you for all your help and assistance in getting me caught up with Joe in *two* months...of course it is nowhere close to your experiences, but every little bit helps to understand the man, the grounded persona,  and the humility and grace with which he captures your attention, both on and off stage. I have yet to experience any other artist his equal in talent and demeanor, and I mean that with all my heart. I cannot say enough.

Jane and Rick, thank you for 'pointing' me in the right direction...I hope Joe enjoys the little cabernet. Yes, Joe, 'The WineMan Cometh Again' at the Hippo...this time with wife and more friends as entourage... big_smile

Cathy, thanks for the little intro at the M&G....I'm envious of you, wish I could stomp up to the Carre in October! That venue looks classy!!! And hey, don't worry..age is just a state of mind!!!  Hey George...  tongue any suggestions to get to the Carre... tongue

Forever Young...you put it very aptly at 'The Ugly Oyster'.....yes, the calm, mild-mannered 'Clark Kent' does transform himself into 'Superman' on stage!!! Hope we meet up again at another show.

Rudy, thanks for posting the clips.....they helped many a 'potential' fan understand the energy, the fire, the perfection, and the fun with this band.

Alexis Terrossa - 'the main man' at J&R - cannot thank him enough - he nailed my day with the M&G.

For everyone that attended the pre-show...hope you folks had a nice time. We will try to make Bal'more even better, hon......let's organize and energize again in November!!!

For anyone that I missed to thank...thank you for making this my most memorable concert experience ever..and I'm sure there will be many more Joe shows to come!!!!!

Cathy and Jane, expect to see some PMs in the next few days as ticket mania creeps up......but I gotta do my taxes first... lol

Re: Reading 3-23

Sorry for the delay in putting this out there, but work has been crazy lately and I wanted to take my time and try to make sure I get all my comments out there. Finally this morning I had a few free moments to try to put something together.

Just wanted to chime in with all the rest and state how nice it was to see Joe and our fellow Joe fans last Wednesday night. It was SO good to see you again Cathy, Jane, Vikki, Forever Young (and Never Get Old!). It was good to get to know better Hombre and Gale, and Rudy and ...? (obviously we don't know you yet as well as we should!)

And Hombre, I haven't gotten an email from you or Beverly yet... I wanted to get word to Beverly that we have our tickets to Walter Trout in Reading on 4/1, and did they maybe want to meet up before that show?

PaulyT, we didn't get a chance to meet and talk to you (a common complaint when seated at long tables), but one thing I'd like to say to you now is that your gushing about your first Joe show has one more benefit that you will be aware of the NEXT time you see him; it will be just as good! He never ceases to amaze me, and I've found that no hyperbole is enough when I'm bringing a Bonavirgin to a show; they always walk out shaking their head in wonder.

And Manoj, I must apologize, I'm pretty sure we were part of the reason for the confusion at the table. To be fair, we did tell the greeter that there might be more people, that we hadn't RSVP'ed, and the thought among us new arrivals was that there might be no-shows who would make the question of party size moot, but we would be willing to leave if there wasn't enough room. Also, the place was empty when we were there, so it didn't seem like it would be the act of Congress that it turned out to be to add a few more seats. But I want to say that even though we didn't get a chance to talk to you, I want to thank you for taking the trouble to set up our get-together; I know it can be a thankless task, but we really do appreciate your taking the initiative.

Oh, by the way, there is a Joe show to talk about here, too! While Jocelyn and I will always love Bogie, I have to agree with the others that there was a new energy at this show. Tal was mixing it up with the boys a bit, and they were obviously having fun. I like the new, heavier sound, particularly on the new songs, but I was also glad to hear so many of the old favorites were still in the mix. Could have used a "Bridge to Better Days" and "Ball Peen Hammer," but there's always next time, right? "Sloe Gin" has turned into more and more of a spiritual experience at each show, and you gotta love Joe's self-deprecating humor at introducing "one of the top ten guitar riffs of the decade": BOJH. Jocelyn and I decided not to try to find Joe's bus and congratulate him on the show afterwards -- we didn't think he'd be inclined to hang out in the cold and sleet any more than we were, so I'll hope he cruises by here and sees me saying "thank you, Joe, as always, and we'll see you next time!"

Re: Reading 3-23

I am thoroughly enjoying all the EXCITEMENT from the newbies and Joe's standard entourage.

Remember Joe's words about...Who knows me in Reading?  big_smile Joe's music has touched my heart & soul in such a deeply emotional way, that I always have these little philosophical connections in my mind. Yeah, I know, I got it bad.  wink  I could have worse vices.  big_smile

If you remember the baseball movie "Field of Dreams" with Kevin Costner, who is a farmer in Iowa. (of all places, home to pattyluvsjoe) The Reading show was the perfect example of the connection that I'm talking about. The famous line in the movie is:
"If you build it, he will come."   Wherever Joe goes, people follow.  Just such a compliment to Joe's music and Joe just being Joe. You newbies are making me gush...I did all this stuff, when I first got hooked.  I think Dust Bowl has propelled my Joe love to another level.  wink

P.S. PaulyT ~ Maybe a quarter of the way into the show, I looked 2 people down the row and saw Eileen standing and rockin' with a big smile, then shortly after when I got her attention, she said one word "GOOSEBUMPS". Tell Eileen I said HI and that will be my lasting first impression of her!  smile

Re: Reading 3-23

Yeah Angela, Eileen told me about that. I'll pass on your message!

Don, I'm certainly looking forward to the next show I can get to! I'm crushed unfortunately that my cousin has decided of all, days, to get married in Florida on Nov 11 - the exact same day of Joe's Baltimore show, so I won't be able to see him!  mad  mad  mad  mad  mad  mad  mad  mad  And we'd already agreed to have our daughters as flower girls, so I can't just skip the wedding either.  wink

Re: Reading 3-23

My apologies to Manoj as well.....i was never 100% sure about being able to get out there on time......and it did appear like it would be no problem, being that noone was in the restaraunt!!!  Thanks for setting the whole pre gathering up.   Thanks to everyone who enjoyed my videos.....wish I had an even fancier camera....but i will enjoy them for years to come....oh yeah.....i have more than 40 songs from the last 3 years of concerts on my utube page.........one more thing....the Mid Atlantic region (Pa, De, Md, NJ) area has to be the most avid northeast fans.....look at the amount of posts vs. the other venues.....or we are just more Bonamaniacle!

Re: Reading 3-23

Indeed, as has been said: Joe asked, "Who knows me in Reading?" Well maybe nobody, but they sure as hell do for two hours' driving in all directions from there!

Re: Reading 3-23

Hey, everyone sorry this is late.  But you know the old saying... better late than never.  With out sounding repetitive to what was already said.  Another awesome night thanks to our bonabuddies and Joe, Carmine, Rick and last but not least Tal.  We have now seen Joe for the eighth time.  Each time we were blown away more than the time before.  The man is on FIRE and I'm afraid he's going to burst into flames. yikes  Great to see Vaughn, and his wife Nancy, Paul and Beverly, Cathy, Jane and Vikki again, but I must say a little strange to see Cathy and no George close by.   sad  We finally got to meet Don and Jocelyn for the first time,  we see them at all the shows.  Thanks for the pizza, saved us from taking time to order.  Especially because we were late, due to work.. etc.  Sorry.  Also meeting Angela and Anthony for the first time.  I guess we will see you in Philly.  I believe that we are sitting in the same row!  And I don't want to forget .... a BIG round of applause out to Manoj for making the dinner reservations, great job.  I all so want to mention what my wife said on the way home wednesday.  She said only two things and the night would have been perfect.  First being..... Joe at our dinner table and the second was Sandi on stage with Joe singing Bird on a wire!  I have to agree with her.  Maybe some day Joe will surprise us all  smile .  Now wouldn't that be awesome?

Thanks again everyone for a GREAT evening!
Until next time....BONAVOYAGE
Tim

Re: Reading 3-23

Cathy,
If you are going to try & get tickets as a group Gale & I are definitley  going to go one way or the other. Our friends Beverly & Paul are also interrested. Don & Jocelyn are also planning on going but I'm not sure if they know about the plan to get tickets as a group.

What a great show & great time the other night, we are still fired up.

Re: Reading 3-23

Very good point about the long table. I feel badly that we didn't get to meet some of you being all the way at the other end. Maybe in Philly we'll meet a few more. We will likely hit Baltimore as well.

I think so many have summed it up so well here. It was one of those magical nights and that is an understatement. It was the 5th show in 11 months and easily the best yet. Can't wait till Novemeber!!

Got 2 BCC shows in June so that is definitely something to look forward to.

Anyway, it's great to read the reactions here from the noobies!! I can feel the excitement Manoj!! Pauly, I've been to hundreds of shows and this was right up there with the very best of em.

Hope to see you all again and real soon!!

Peace,
John

PaulyT ~ I think your musical interests & talent are fascinating and probably goes hand in hand with your scientific/cerebral abilities.  wink
"It’s music of Franz Liszt, played by Arcadi Volodos."  I was listening and reading up on Franz (child prodigy at 6, 1st concert at 12) and Arcadi, but was laughing on the unlikeliness of someone uncovering classical music through Tom & Jerry cartoons. big_smile  (one of the comments under the clip) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=goeOUTRy2es

Re: Reading 3-23

Ha! There's a great tradition of classical music in cartoons - at least the "good 'ole" ones like T&J and especially Bugs Bunny. Some of Bugs' Rossini renditions (Barber of Seville) and esp. some Wagner (with Elmer Fudd) are classic. This is one of the most hilarious things I've ever seen and I've loved it since I was a kid:

Yes, we're planning on going and yes, if there's a chance to get in the group we're interested!

Re: Reading 3-23

Folks...I've opened a new thread for Baltimore 11/11/11.....so we can, as Cathy said, 'Hound the Hippo'......and organize collaboratively again. May be if we are organized again, the banner can make the Hippo rounds stashed away in Tal's bass drum kit to 'make it's way' into the venue... lol

Yep that would be me! The profile shot  cool

I said to Joe; I swear to you we aren't stalkers! He laughed. It was our 3rd M&G in as many shows.
