Thanks for the heads-up mike. I think i've seen both before - still enjoyable though!

Make the most of it - Barry Manilow & Neil Diamond next week (May 18th)

Friday May 25th on BBC4 is looking good.

New Pink Floyd documentary - behind the scenes of Wish You Were Here recording.
Followed by BBC archive Pink Floyd performances 1967 - 2005.
Rounding off the evening, the usual montage of Guitarists @ The Beeb.

Now we're talking.  Back in the good ol' days when David and Roger were still talking to one another .... unmissable for me.

Thanks Mike for that heads-up. I will make a point of watching!

I watched last weeks - Tom Petty - except i didn't last the full 4hrs.
While watching, i was amazed to see how Tom hasn't aged that much, compared to everyone else around him - i think he's had some help in that dept! How do i think i know?.... look at peoples hands and necks - is the give away!

Definitely one for both watching and recording. After Manilow we need to get back to the proper old stuff.

Think the evening (25th) is rounded off with Toots & the Maytals if anyone needs an injction of reggae.

No problem at all, Mike. I must get my TV Guide earlier too! lol

I hope we bump into each other at a gig someday, but being at opposite ends of the country it may not happen soon. Next March in London?

Great, we can have a chat then. Will we need an interpreter? lol

Oh dear sad Mind you, what passes for punk on the BBC is anything from The Pistols to The Police to The Stranglers.

Re: Friday Night Is Music Night on BBC4 TV

You're pulling my leg. big_smile In case you're not, take a look at the London Gig Guide thread.

I looked in next week's Radio Times last night and saw "Zeppelin Around the World" scheduled for Friday, 1st June and thought great, then I read the detail and saw it is a programme about flying around the world in a Zeppelin. roll
There doesn't seem to be any music programme on that night. sad Maybe it's just as well as I shall probably be knackered after trying to get tickets for those March shows that go on sale that day!

Ah - see it's London so I never look at what's happenin' down there. I cover a good area but that's a bit out my way. A spaceship would have to land with Elvis and Jimi to 'tice me down there for a gig.

Ah, the North v's the South rub - still alive and well - not a criticism, an observation, and from friends i have in the Lake District.

Re: Friday Night Is Music Night on BBC4 TV

Reavealing and insightful documentary, followed by a melange of clips rare and familiar: not a bad night's viewing on Friday.

This Friday's (June 1st) offering probably has a more limited appeal:-

9 - 10pm Punk Britannia 1st of 3 parts looking at birth and rise of Punk Rock... get those safety pins and bin liners ready (mine are... ;p )
10 - 11pm Top Of The Pops 1977 Compilation of punk act who graced the show.... no Sex Pistols then.....
11 - 12pm Tv Smith & The Adverts
12 - 1:00ish am Dr Feelgood & Ian Drury & The Blockheads 1979 Sight & Sound concert.
1 - 2:30am - Stiff @ the BBC. Stiff records bands,
Well, nothing wrong with a bit of variety....
