Re: NCAA Basketball

Revenge is sweet! So the Weasles, Ferrets, excuse me, Badgers or whatever varmint beat the Buckeyes and knocked them out of the #1 spot, but they collected themselves and got back to the business @ hand to regain the #1 spot and now it's time to dance. The Buckeyes wanted to beat UW by 50, but had to settle for just 28, actually 1 would have been all they needed, but they did administer a pretty good beatdown in the Nuthouse yesterday. Let the MADNESS begin!!!

That sounds much easier #1. I can't even imagine how a spreadsheet could work here. I'll jump in. Nova's loss was a shocker!  Tonight our conference playoff starts. Utah should be handled, not looking forward to a semi against UNLV on their home court if it happens.  hmm
TV of tonights game is out on my cable, some spat between carriers. sad

Re: NCAA Basketball

Don't know what to think about my Cats other than what I've said, except like one commentator said a couple games ago they need to think less and play ball...  The boys of my household think there is something wrong with the 2 minute close game and they criticize that area of coaching.  A series of unfortunate events: being out with injuries & playing with injuries, inconsistent play...Syracuse recovered from a 4 game losing streak, Nova' didn't and the timing was at the worse possible time.  I didn't think they would definitely get pass Cinn., but they should have won the 1st game.

I witnessed the second half of the Rutgers vs. St. John's game and was rooting for St. John's for no important reasons, but totally changed my mind by the end of the game.  I am rooting for Syracuse to beat St. John's as I type.  RUTGERS GOT ROBBED!!!  I don't think I've ever witnessed anything so outrageous in a crucial game like that.  It was total chaos towards the end, the officials got all caught up in the frenzied happenings and made poor decisions & maybe were not in the right place to be objective.  It is a real, real shame for Rutgers and so UNFAIR!!  Their coach is a class act.  If you haven't seen the coverage on ESPN about it, the NCAA recognized 2 missed calls.  There may have been even 1 more.

And one of the refs that I've been complaining about all season was involved, I believe its Ref. Higgins.  He had horrible calls on some games that we won & lost.  Another ref overturned him at least twice in one game.

OK, Rocket's Orange is up by 1 with a little over 2:00 minutes.   St. John's is shooting a fowl shot...EVEN...bringing out the pixie dust for your Rocket!!!    smile

You got your wish Angela, SJU goes home and Rocket's naranjas go on, and the 3 officials are out of the tournament after that horrific job.
Lots of good ball today with more to come! I'm signed up for #!'s bracket and ready to guess my best. The way the upsets are rolling right now, an ouija board may come in handy.  lol

Rick, it looks like Leonard hurt his back in last night’s game. This game was going to be tough enough for you guys already playing the Rebels at home. This will be a great game. Go Rebels!

The way BYU looked yesterday; I don't think that they will win the Conference championship. The loss of Davies has had a huge impact on the team. I think that The Lobo's will win the game.

Take care,
Bill

Re: NCAA Basketball

and on the bubble side, we are now one of the last in according to Lunardi. A must win against Georgia coming up in about 30 minutes. Even that may not guarantee a spot if an underdog wins a particular conference. ROLL TIDE ROLL, Anthony Grant deserved SEC coach of the year and didn't get it, he needs to get us in the tourney somehow, some way.

Leonard's fine. Got an elbow that caused a charley horse knot in his back. Coach sat him as a precaution shortly after he went back in since the game was never in doubt. Our reserves could have beaten Utah. I think the Lobos will give BYU all they want again. They beat them easily the last two games. They're the only team in the nation to handle Jimmer. Aztecs say they want it all, going for the 2 seed! Tonight I get to watch live instead of listening on the radio. Stupid cable tv war! mad  mad

Pulling for ya Tres! Our boys are only worried about a 2 or 3 seed placement. Optimum would be the 2 in the west coast tourney section so no ACC or SEC toughies in the run to sweet 16. Fingers crossed! Fisher finally got a piece of Coach of the year. That old Michigan stigma still clings to him no matter what he does.

D.J.GAY! Great game tonight. I was quite worried there when the Rebels got back in it. Go AZTECS! Sure called it wrong with Jimmer, he is a one man team sometimes. One more chance to solve him tomorrow.

Re: NCAA Basketball

Gay it is! Over in the Garden, UConn beats Syracuse they way they historrifically lose best-terribile foul shooting!  yikes  Kemba Walker is the beast!!! yikes  Louisville trounced Notre Dame.  Both games of course, went into overtime.  Another bloodbath of a tournament......surprise!  roll Should be an interesting final tonight and look out for Louisville is all eye scan say! Kentuckians might want to consider them the state rep this year... hmm

Re: NCAA Basketball

So many surprises, I thought Notre Dame was going to trump everyone in the Big East, even before Pitt lost.

Rocket, sorry I wasn't around to sprinkle pixie dust on your team last night, I was rockin' at a Grace Potter concert, my son updated me by text thru the overtime.  And if I have my facts straight, UConn and 'Nova entered the tourney with the same Big East record, 9-9.  Agreed, Kemba is on fire, if he wasn't ON, the Orange would have won. Its fascinating to watch these teams when 1 guy dominates.  How about Jimmer with 52 points!! College Basketball is such a WILD ride!!  Its actually less stressful and holds a different level of entertainment when my team isn't a factor.

Hey Rick, going back to that Rutgers game, I still can't get over it, I watched it unfold in front of my eyes.  And my pixie dust is selfless, it only works for others. (In a post one time, Rocket said I reminded him of Tinkerbell...he always is a big source of amusement to me!  big_smile) Even though the outcome wasn't St John's fault and it wasn't definite that Rutgers could have won, some of the tension on the situation eased when St. John's lost to Syracuse. I'm not sure if the lost from Rutgers will keep them from the big dance, I have to check into that...

OK Tinkerbelle, spread some of that dust our way. Aztecs are going to need a ton to beat BYU after that tough match against UNLV. They need to cripple Jimmer right off the bat.  tongue  The Rebels should make an at large berth IMO. UNM may squeak in too with their 2 wins over BYU, giving our conference 4 slots. There are so many good teams in the ACC and Big East, there will be some deserving teams left watching. Down to the wire this weekend with great play coming up. I'll be channel surfing with the best of them. lol (the tv widow may have other plans though  roll ) wink How was Grace? She knocked our socks off here.

edit: If you sent the dust, it is magic. Emphatic exclamation point to the best season ever for the Aztecs. They put the hurt to BYU tonight and dominated every aspect of the game, sending them off to the new league with a spanking. MWC tourney champs and if a 2 seed isn't at least in the offing, we wuz robbed.

Re: NCAA Basketball

Aztecs total revenge, pretty sweet.  However, I'd like to see a #3 seed, I think it can play out better for San Diego State.  Elite 8 minimum if they get a #3 seed.  I think with #2 it might not bode so swell.  Juts off the rough opinion and comments, not trying to rankle.
Tournament seeds not necessarily resembling seasonal polls tend to get some upset, but it's a big college basketball world out there beyond one's favorite team or league... I'm predicating a great tournament this year...how easy is that though?!

Re: NCAA Basketball

Point well made Rocket. An easy run should be the preferred route. #1's Cats head for the champ game but late injuries to starters don't bode well to this young team against tough Florida.

Well, SDSU is good enough it might not matter either way.  I feel pretty confident they are Sweet Sixteen bound regardless-even if that ends there, a truly remarkable year for the Aztecs!!!
