Go Aztecs!

edit, Watching Rocket's Orange vs NCState right now. Good game too. Go Syracuse!

You had a good turnout, but it is nothing compared to the Lobos. I would say roughly 9000 made the trip from New Mexico. They were holding banner saying Pit in the West and it’s true. The Rebels season is over and I am disappointed. I stayed for the Boise New Mexico and it was great game to watch. I am looking forward to tonight matchup. It will be a good one.

Good luck tonight Rick.

It's never good when the Aztecs force you to play their game, sorry we had to end your season Bill. The Boise State team hung tough against the Lobos. I hope they wore them out a bit. 9,000! What a turnout for NM. Have fun tonight.
edit. Oh well, there isn't much between these two teams. Tonight the Lobos made the critical shots down the stretch. On to the big dance. A heck of a result for a team picked to finish 4th at the beginning of the season. If they don't start shooting, they won't go far on D alone.
edit 2: I wasn't really paying attention to this facet, but the morning fishwrap brought up that the officiating was the same crew that gave the game to the Lobos in the other loss with excessive foul calling. No sour grapes, but  they had  a total of 41 with 30 fouls in the 2nd period! What happened to let them play?

Re: NCAA Basketball

I was wondering if anyone watched ESPN last night at 9, The Requiem of the Big East? Rocket, if you didn't watch it, I know you would enjoy it.

I always thought Georgetown's John Thompson had a chip on his shoulder, now I realize it was more like a rock. I never knew about Jim Boeheim's strong statements about Syracuse's loss to Georgetown in '84 and Jimmy throwing a chair. I agree with Jimmy, just outrageous overturn of a call.(makes everyone think Bobby Knight when it comes to chair throwing) Even though it was a long time ago, #8 seed 'Nova beating #1 Georgetown the following year in '85, seems even more significant now to me learning some of the back history. What goes around comes around. Georgetown played dirtier than anyone, that I know for sure!

Hi Rick,

YES, exactly what you said...learned so much and the build up and breakdown of the Big East, all about money & large egos.

Check out this tweet from Malik Allen, Nova Basketball player who graduated in 2000. He ended up being coached by Patrick Ewing.

lol
Living out here we didn't get much of that Big East stuff. This was pretty much a bb backwater in those times. Then along came Coach Fisher. He's come a long way from nothing. Good luck in the tourney Angela, the 'Cats look good again. I think the Aztecs have the stuff to make it to the 16. Beyond that I'm not so sure unless they figure out how to shoot or someone gets uber hot. Great D only goes so far.

Re: NCAA Basketball

didn't have Harvard, there goes my billion as well.

Albany is flirting with history, Florida is favored by 21. This would be a major bracket buster for many, I have the gators going to the final four.

Coming up on tip off for my Aztecs after watching another upset by N.Dakota State. This will be a tough test with those two giants in the middle. Gooooooo Aztecs!
Rick Whew! They tried to lose it and gave me a panic attack. 4 OT's today set a record.  ND State will be tough. Stayin' alive.

Attended SUNY Albany Great Danes basketball back around the time of their first near historic #16 threat to #1 UConn in the 2005-2006 NCAA Tournament.  Got to say, not a bad program, one of relative consistency, for such a small state school.  They might pull one out...one day.  Sooner or later.  Not Final Four, but... hmm

Re: NCAA Basketball

wish I could have stayed up for it, but didn't expect it to go OT. That's 5 OT's now including the Vols win Tuesday night. What a crazy first day, son and I were glued to the tube last night. I felt real bad for Mark Gottfried (NCST), they totally blew that lead. NDST - OKLA was also a great game, the Bisons took it to them.

Re: NCAA Basketball

Did you see Coach Fisher's rant about the way the NCAA treated the losing teams in the post game interview? There is a real teacher and coach for you. He really cares about the young men on the teams, and not just his.
The rest could take a page from his playbook.

Re: NCAA Basketball

I just did read about it, he's right of course but I don't know how they are supposed to fix it when you have X number of games played in one day at the same venue. First game start at 9:00 AM? Oh fine, I'll have a steak & egg biscuit, with a bloody mary. smile
Steve is extra special, need more coaches like him. You were sweating bullets on that finish heh?

Re: NCAA Basketball

March is full of MADNESS!!!

Surprised about Duke, wow!! My bracket is busted.

I was so surprised when I tuned in briefly to see Florida getting beat up yesterday by a 16 seed. And if 'Nova plays like they did last night, even though they ended up winning by 20, they will be beat by UConn. If you just looked at the score and didn't see the game, you can't understand what I'm saying. How do 9 guys show up on a given day and no one can shoot a 3? Hopefully, they shook off their loss to Seton Hall and got their nerves worked out last night. wink

Have to give a shout out to another Philly team, St. Joe's for a valiant effort against UConn. They were winning most of the game, tied it up, didn't get a shot off, shot clock violation...then overtime. Best shooter fowled out...lost in overtime.

This is just sweet!!  http://www.philly.com/philly/blogs/spor … ndson.html

Re: NCAA Basketball

too cute Angela, a future coach in the making. I didn't know Phil was still there until last night, did a huge double take when they called out his name. I was pulling for them, just wasn't meant to be I guess.

How bout them Mercer Bears? My brackets look like swiss cheese already.

Re: NCAA Basketball

I love it Angela. The kid is too cute.
Well, You, I, Tres (gotta be rooting for that Cinderella from Macon) and Rocket are still alive which is all that counts at this stage of the games.
Yes Tres, sweating bullets was the deal. Helen had to leave the room when X flubbed the inbound pass and they let them back in. The next game against ND will be extra tough since Spokane is basically home team advantage for them with the fans driving across to make the game and everyone else cheering the Cinderella. Deja vue all over again reminding me of the loss last year to Florida Gulf.
My brackets look like Swiss Cheese as well. No one is winning that billion this year. As Coach Fisher said in a radio interview today, "Every team that is playing is a good one and can't be taken lightly." I'd be expecting more upsets along the way in the next few days.
Good luck!
