Hi #1.
We are both female college basketballs fans rooting for Wildcats, whose colors are blue and white!! It looks like both of our teams started off overrated, ' Nova lost the NIT tourney to Tenn.
I saw part of that UConn game, yeah the Huskies looked good that night. Shame about your coach losing his mom during the season. Was he under some heat in the last few years for recruiting violations, I think the UConn coach too... One of our freshman is in hot water. Before the season even opened, he seriously hurt another student at a fight that broke out at a party, the parents are pressing charges. I'll be surprised if he gets off or if Jay lets him stay with the team. One of my daughter's friends witnessed it, so alot of students were around and saw what happened.
Tomorrow night is Philadelphia's "Holy War" between Villanova and St. Joe's, 2 Catholic universities about 5 miles from each other. They use to both be part of the Big 5, but 'Nova pulled away to join the Big East years ago, so there is sometimes a little resentment & jealousy being splashed around in the rivalry. I'm 1 of 6 kids, half of us went to St. Joe's including my dad and half went to 'Nova undergrad and the Law School, so lets say, its all in the family...just good basketball fun, sometimes more like Army vs. Navy. The Wildcats have won the last 28 out of 40 games against the Hawks.
The former CEO of NutriSystem, Michael Hagan, who totally turned the company profitable, is a St. Joe's grad. He donated $10 million towards their arena. One of St. Joe's big majors is food marketing.
Yeah, and Coach K. is a class act. I had a funny conversation with the surgeon that operated on my son's knee...he said are you a Duke hater? Definitely not a hater, but damn was it fun to beat them real bad 2 years ago! They are a good team and they get lots of great recruits... It is a really, really, really hard school to get into if your not an athlete and you have to be a top athlete and decent student to get in.
I think this thread doesn't usually start until around February when March Madness is heating up...I think #1kyfan gets the prize for DIEHARD College Basketball Fan!!!
